We picked this hotel on motels.com because it showed up as being fairly modestly priced. What a scam--after various taxed and fees were added, the price more than doubled. Downright fraudulent! When we arrived, the staff person who runs the hotel was helpful and friendly, but she was the only person we ever saw, and she is not on the... More

Very close to good bus stops along main road Rene-Levesque, only 10 minute walk to Station Berri-UQAM and the great shopping streets St. Catherine and great food on St. Denis. You could also walk 15-20 minutes and be at the Old Port/Notre Dame - excellent location! Felt safe walking streets alone in day and evening. However, due to the ubiquitous... More

Pathetic. Band aids on the ceiling. Area felt unsafe. Breakfast was at a greasy spoon 500 metres away. TV was a 1980s computer. Bathroom was old but clean. I wish I had booked elsewhere. Service wasn't great.

We spent three nights at maison brunet to visit Montreal. This small Hotel is located in walking distance to the old City of Montreal in a nice old house. The parking situation is a bit difficult in the area but our host was very kind and tried to find us an empty space nearby. Breakfast is not too exciting in... More

the room was well decorated, nice place, not too far away from the subway and from where we have to take the breakfest (outside the B&B 10min to walk) the lady is very charming and helpful if needed. room clean. the only problem is the ventilation which was very noisy, and the fridge too, but we can turn it off... Very small but quaint room in a well located b&b. Breakfast is at a restaurant outside not too far but not too close either (about 300 meters). What i liked the most was the private bathroom outside the room, which considering the very small size gave a lot of privacy.

Maison Brunet was a beautiful l`hotel for ma petit-amie and I to enjoy our first vacation to the lovely Montreal ; the location is convenient (easy to walk to most attractions) and the landlady is friendly and intuitive. The city is fun and full of vivre and this is a pleasant and comfortable little l`hotel for the visitor`s shelter !... More

We stayed here for a week and, by and large, were content. The location --- not far from the Berri/UQAM metro station --- was extremely convenient, and we managed to find free parking on the street in front of the house. Our "garden" room had a private bath within the room and decent climate control; everything was clean. The manager... More

I have travelled and stayed in similar budget accomodations around the world and I would say that Maison Brunet is definatly comparable. If you want no frills accommodation in a great location with a decent price then I would reccommend this hotel for you. Below is some of the pro's and con's I have found from my own personal experiences... More

I really want to love the Maison Brunet. It's location is ideal - close walk to all the downtown areas and the Berri-UQAM metro station. The house is on a quiet side-street. It has a lovely interior and the rooms were clean. We had a room with a cute terrace overlooking the street. The breakfast was a so-so mix of... More

Staying in Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)

Neighborhood Profile
Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)
Named for the Olympic Stadium complexes built for the 1976 games, the Olympic Park and the surrounding neighborhood of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa) make up an invigorated area dedicated to "Space for Life." Around the Olympic Village's arenas and stadiums, Rue Sherbrooke welcomes exploration of its sculpture gardens decorated in the works of Jean-Paul Riopelle and its museum culture headed by the historical Château Dufresne. Maisonneuve Park offers interactive experiences at its bio-dome, insectarium, planetarium, and botanical gardens. For a change of scene, the gentrified space along Rue Ontario Est is packed with the city's newest, edgiest cafes, where an imaginative, youthful crowd sips foamy cappuccinos. A visit here is incomplete without stepping into the vast halls of the Maisonneuve Market, with flower stalls, wine depots, and local produce.
