For an hostel, it's Beautiful decoration, very clean (especially bathroom very clean) good service, friendly people, lively, but quiet at night. It's in downtown, near the gay village, beautiful area, with several restaurants, bars and attractions nearby.

I've stayed in quite a few hostels in Canada and this is by far the best I've been to. Very clean, modern and comfortable rooms, and the hostel is in a great location - just a few minutes walk from Rue Ste Catherine and the main metro stop for the city (Berri-UQAM). Decent breakfast offered (toast, croissants, juices, etc) and... More

What a wonderful place!!! Not your average hostel at all. The first and second floor are very modern, the kitchen is beautiful and the room & facilities are impeccably clean. The staff is friendly, and there's an awesome bar downstairs! The bar is adorably decorated, hosts live bands but don't worry you won't hear a peep upstairs - this is... More

This is one of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed at, and it feels more like a boutique hotel. The breakfast was great and the events at the bar in the evening were fun, with great happy hour prices on beer. Our room was a four person with a bathroom at the end of the hall. It was quiet and... The M Hostel is great, actually is more like a hotel. I had a great fun with the people there and the activities organized. The hostel is clean, safe, in an unbeatable location and the staff is nice. I will go back again without doubts.

Great place and awesome location. We were in town for Grand prix and all hotels were booked up. I ended up seeing if they had space bc there are private rooms available. It turned out to be perfect. It was walking distance to pretty much everything the city has to offer and if not metro was 5 minutes away .... More

Best Hostel ever! Most friendly and helpful staff, extremely clean (rooms and towels are cleaned every day), ensuite bathroom, ensuite fridge and locker. House not sooo nice from outside, but diamond inside, looked very trendy and new inside. Great location, good free and payable stuff by Hostel. I would definitely stay there again, made my first stay in Montreal really... More

This hostel was really really great. Clean and new looking rooms, clean linens, bathroom in our own room that we shared with a few other friendly guests, a really great bar in the basement with live music, comedy shows, karaoke, etc on different nights, and a pretty solid complimentary breakfast. Great location next to St. Catherine, close to the bustling... More

I stayed here for 3 nights last March and when I decided to return to Montreal in the spring, M hostel was a give. For accommodation. Great location, really friendly and helpful staff, clean, free breakfast and wifi. I wish all hostels were this good.

From the moment I arrived all staff were so helpful and friendly. Really great funky vibe, new decor and fab little bar downstairs. So clean and tidy plus the free tea and coffee is a nice touch. Kitchen has everything you might need and apart from the free wifi you can also use a brand new Mac computer to surf... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
