The Bonaparte are family to our group from Bermuda. My dad's favourite place to dine & when he heard they would be opening rooms history was made. We return every year for the GP and it always feels like coming home, even when some of us don't make the trip every year. Was last there in 2013 and I got... More

The room was clean, comfortable, and roomy. The fresh, crisp sheets felt luxurious. Location is wonderful for walking around Old Montreal or even for walking down to the cruise ship. But it was the caring, cheerful, very competent staff that made the visit outstanding. In particular, thank you Luc

We stayed 3 nights, and enjoyed each more than the previous. Rooms are clean and well-appointed, and Luc is a delightful gem of a concierge. We loved the adjoining restaurant so much that we ate there each night, discovering that we preferred to dine at the bar for a little less formal experience. Breakfasts in said restaurant were generous and... More

If you staying in the old town this is the place to stay. This is in my opinion the best hotel to stay in in Montreal. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A very awesome experience. There are lots of restaurants very close by, walking distance and the hotel's restaurant is also very good.

This inn is gorgeous! I felt like I had touched down in a quaint village in Europe. The staff are extremely helpful, they all speak English as well as French and don't seem to mind accommodating English speakers in the least. The inn itself was immaculate, our room was beautiful with hardwood floors, brick walls and large windows that you... More

Large, king size bed with cozy feel. Small room but very clean and right in the middle of beautiful Old Montreal. This included a beautiful brunch in the gorgeous attached restaurant. I enjoyed the large shower, which had a large jetted tub. Toiletries, hair dryer, desk, television, towels provided.

I brought my longtime girlfriend here for her birthday because she loves Montreal. And indeed, the city of Montreal is a lovely place; we took full advantage of its charms during our 4-day stay. But as any traveler knows, without a cozy place to call "home" during a visit, be it for business or pleasure, the the trip will suffer.... More

The Auberge Bonaparte is a wonderful place to stay in Old Montreal! Its location is very convenient to the sights, and it's located on a quiet, peaceful side street. (The parking is very convenient also). The historic building has been very graciously and tastefully remodeled and decorated. Our room was very pleasant and roomy, and the dining room is beautiful.... More

As a former long-time Montrealer returning for a weekend to experience the city as a visitor, the Auberge Bonaparte was ideal. It's in the heart of Old Montreal but on a quiet side street, just steps from the Centaur Theatre and around the corner from the Notre-Dame Cathedrale. It is a simple but thoroughly elegant small hotel. Exceptionally helpful folks... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
