We loved our 4 days/3 nights at this quaint little auberge/inn/hotel. The high ceilings, hardwood floors, brick walls - all helped make our stay delightful. The staff were helpful, the breakfasts delicious (included in price) and we highly recommend this jewel of a small hotel.

So much nicer than a typical hotel in the same price range! Very nice rooms with large bathrooms. To our surprise, we never heard any noise from our courtyard side room and slept very well. Breakfast is a 3 course menu that is outstanding, including fresh coffee, orange juice, milk... The only thing that doesn't fit at breakfast is the... More

Stayed here after review by TripAdvisor .Perfect position to explore the old city .Plenty of restaurants to try in the nearby streets which are mostly pedestrian only in the summer .Lots of street entertainment and alfresco dining.Close to the river and the walkways along the waterfront. The hotel was excellent ,rooms were spacious and good size bathroom .The bed was comfortable... This hotel is one of my all time favorites. It is well-priced and such a GREAT value. The three course breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The rooms were updated and clean. The staff was so so friendly and helpful. They had free water bottles in the room and free tea and coffee upon request. The best part is that the... More

Olde & boutique style rooms. Very spacious - maybe too spacious that it didn't feel very warm. Not too warm in the winter. Standard room. Great location in the heart of Old Montreal. Also close to the Palais de Congress. Close to lots of restaurants and bars. Not a lot of parking selection. Breakfast in restaurant very tasty.

The hotel is a small inn in a beautiful old building. The rooms are very clean with hardwood floors, wifi throughout, and comfy. The hotel owns a fantastic restaurant next door, one of the best in the area, and that is where you'll enjoy a complementary breakfast in the morning... Not a cheap fruit or bagel breakfast, but French crepes... More

The Auberge Bonaparte is in a wonderful location, within walking distance from the Notre Dame Basilica (which is a must see if staying in this area of Montreal). Parking is located in the parking lot slightly up the street (you can park along the curb to check in and then bring proof of your stay at the hotel to the... More

Nice room and excellent breakfast for the money! You will have to pay for parking! Right in the center of the town! Service was good, room clean! Believe me, breakfast was included and was par to none!

Returned after spending three days in Montreal during Canada Day festivities. Hotel is very clean and the staff friendly. Breakfast is served in the Bonaparte restaurant which is also excellent in the evening for dinner (best to make reservations). This was my third time here. Room with two double beds was very large and clean.

My boyfriend and I took his mom for a quick weekend in Montreal during the cold month of January. We were able to find great rates at this charming hotel in Old Montreal. They were able to accommodate our late check-in as we drove up from NYC. The front desk was very helpful in directing us to L'Express for a... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
