We received a friendly welcome on check in and all staff seemed friendly, cheerful and helpful. The room was quiet, the ensuite excellent. Breakfast (included in room rate) was very good, This hotel is walking distance from so much of the old town, it's attractions and restaurants.

A great small hotel. We had a standard queen room. It was simple and comfortable. Checking in was smoothe. The hotel is convenient to everything in Old Montreal and backs up to Notre Dame Basilica. The breakfast that is included in the room charge is in the Bonaparte restaurant and is a full breakfast with several choices. Parking is an... More

Along with our friends from the UK, we visited Montreal for a few days and stayed at Bonaparte. We are four in our 70's. I did extensive searching of many hotels in Montreal, spending many hours on my laptop in front of the TV. My first intention was a large hotel with all that goes with that. I had narrowed... More

This is a lovely hotel with a phenomenally helpful, friendly staff. Our room was spacious and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The included breakfast was delicious, served in the adjoining upscale restaurant with a choice of several menu items -- pancakes, French toast, omelettes, etc. By our 3rd morning the wait staff brought coffee and water without even asking.... Recently stayed here with a friend for a few days. Don't be put off by the small, not-very-imposing lobby, which reminded me of european hotels. The location was great, smack behind Notre Dame Cathedral in old Montreal. The service was remarkable, starting with Luc, the concierge, who came out and greeted us while we were still trying to figure out... More

Just spent three nights, good location, rooms are clean but small, clean and basic, awesome breakfast included, reception staff very nice, helpful and friendly. My only complaint was they charged me for four days of parking when in fact we left at 8:00 a.m on the final day, beware of that. Our hotel in Quebec did not do that, I... More

Second time we have stayed here and both visits have been fantastic. The staff is great, the rooms wonderful and the breakfasts are simply fantastic. The location is perfect for exploring old Montreal. Would definitely stay here again and recommend this to others.

You couldn't ask for a better location if you want to see the sights in Montreal. I grabbed rental bikes each day from the nearby racks and explored the waterfront, canal, Old Montreal, Parc Olympique, Outremont, etc. Quiet rooms, terrific breakfast, and friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure I had what I needed. The kicker... More

We stayed 3 nights at this great little hotel and had a terrific experience. Our room was spacious (even huge), clean, comfortable and quiet (even though it was right next to the elevator). The multi-lingual staff was friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was generous and good. (Very minor complaints -- the omelettes were too brown for my taste and... More

We stayed for 2 nights in May and very much enjoyed our visit. Our train brought us in well before check-in time, but the staff accommodated our luggage and made us feel welcome so that we could go out and tour Montreal. When we returned to check-in after lunch, our room was clean and spacious - everything we could have... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
