The Auberge Bonaparte is a wonderful place to stay in Old Montreal! Its location is very convenient to the sights, and it's located on a quiet, peaceful side street. (The parking is very convenient also). The historic building has been very graciously and tastefully remodeled and decorated. Our room was very pleasant and roomy, and the dining room is beautiful.... More

As a former long-time Montrealer returning for a weekend to experience the city as a visitor, the Auberge Bonaparte was ideal. It's in the heart of Old Montreal but on a quiet side street, just steps from the Centaur Theatre and around the corner from the Notre-Dame Cathedrale. It is a simple but thoroughly elegant small hotel. Exceptionally helpful folks... More

The hotel is in the old city we were able to walk all over from the front door of the Auberge Bonaparte .We enjoyed the beautifully appointed spacious room with a view of the back of Notre Dame Basilica.Breakfast was included and we had an amazing dinner from their three course menu with professional, attentive, but not intrusive service.Yesterday was our last... A friend and I stayed here for a long weekend in Montreal. The Bonaparte was flawless. The room was exactly as shown in the photographs on the hotel website; spacious and with a view overlooking Notre Dame. The bathroom alone was bigger than my apartment, and included a bathtub that would hold a small elephant. The extra sink/vanity area outside... More

My husband and I spent the weekend in Old Montreal for the first time. We stayed at the Augerge Bonaparte and were very pleased with our room and service. The room was impeccably clean and very quiet. Upon arrival the people at the front desk greeted us with a friendly bon jour and made us feel welcome. They gave us... More

Old Town Montreal at it's finest! The service, parking, breakfast, and wifi were all superb. It was a bit hard to find but the staff talked us right to the front door. It is conveniently located within walking distance of many great restaurants, museums and the the St Lawrence Seaway.

We were looking for a new place to stay in Montreal as our "go-to" hotel let us down last time. We booked one night at the Auberge Bonaparte. Great location, clean, bright and beautiful rooms and great service at the front desk; I think we found our new go-to hotel! We were upgraded to a king suite; stunning architecture, beautiful... On a chilly weekend in early March, I had the good fortune of spending two nights at the Auberge Bonaparte. A friend of mine and I were very pleased with the friendly and helpful services of the concierge desk and got great suggestions from them on places to visit in the city. They also helped us book massages at a... More

Luc, a gracious, knowledgable host, provides comfortable, spacious, well lighted yet unpretentious accommodations; his efforts are supported by a professional, well-trained staff. The hotel's location puts most of Montreal within strolling distance. The attached restaurant is a "go to" location for locals. The menu and wine list are extensive without being over-powering; both are well chosen, and both are reasonably... More

After wanting to stay at this hotel for sometime, we finally did and we were not disappointed!!! It was such a wonderful two nights away together at this amazing place. The rooms were decorated with class and warmth of charm, with high ceilings, wonderful windows with black out curtains, and the sound proofing of the room was excellent giving us one... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
