What a wonderful little inn tucked away on a quaint street in the old city! Room was just as lovely as in the photos- picturesque, spotless and comfortable. We had a fabulous dinner in the hotel's restaurant. We knew it was well rated but it was a raw and snowy night and we didn't feel up to traveling out to... More

Auberge Bonaparte is an excellent medium priced European style hotel in the heart of Old Montreal. It also has a superb restaurant that features classic French cuisine. Breakfast is included in the price of the room as per European custom. Architecture is classic and staff are particularly friendly and accommodating English is readily spoken if your are not versed in... More

After years eating at Bonaparte restaurant, we decided to book two rooms in their adjoining hotel. Interestingly, the small lobby is decorated in a very hip fashion, which is completely opposite of their rooms, which feature drab beige walls and marble baths, and wooden furniture. We choose the first room, with one bed and a private terrace, that was VERY... More

The location is excellent, Within walking distance of all the activities, restaurants, and shops of Old Montreal. It's a block from the waterfront. The king room was well furnished with a comfortable bed and bedding and had hardwood floors, deep bay windows, and antique style fixtures. The staff was friendly and helpful and bilingual in French and English. The breakfast... More

Stayed 2 nights in 2 different rooms, 304 & 305. 305 was nicer, larger and quieter. Pros : Great location in old Montreal, close to everything. Well-priced parking and an excellent breakfast included. Pleasant and competent staff. The restaurant is the highlight, large and well-staffed. Reasonable table d' hote dinner, excellent food. Cons : Rooms, bathrooms and beds are on... More

This is a very comfortable and friendly small hotel in the old part of Montreal. The staff are professional, courteous and helpful. The rooms are warm and elegant. The food for breakfast (include with room) and dinner is consistently outstanding with impeccable service. We have stayed here before and always look forward to coming back!

We enjoyed our two days in old Montreal. Our stay at Auberge Bonaparte was exceptional because of the staff and location. The room was cozy and clean. We were well received, the restaurant was good and the staff excellent especially Yannick! We went to depart and asked for suggestions on where to stay and what to do in Quebec City... More

In a terrific location... Hardwood floors, very quiet, and an excellent restaurant. Breakfast included (very good). Reasonably priced, good service, friendly staff. We will be back again. If you get a chance to eat dinner there, I would recommend it highly. There are so many great restaurants in Montreal. It was a nice surprise to find one right downstairs. If... More

We stumbled on this hotel due to location and other trip advisor reviews. It was terrific. On a side street in old montreal, it was convenient to walk throughout the old town. It is a small boutique hotel with a great restaurant which everyone in Montreal knew. We had dinner there one night, and it was excellent with a great... More

I stayed here in January 2016 and it was even better than a year ago. The lobby renovation really opened up the space and the hot, delicious breakfasts seemed to taste even better. I read 14sunflowers' (-) review and I think there needs to be a context. The hotel that they went to that they liked better is 60% more.... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
