Pros: -Great location -Awesome staff (helped us make dinner reservations etc) - DELICIOUS breakfast Cons: -No safe in the room -Scratchy towels -Scuff marks all over the baseboards in the bedroom and in lobby. Also, Black marks all over the front desk (probably from suitcases). Nothing a Mr Clean magic eraser can't fix but definitely noticeable and makes it seem... More

I just returned from a Canada vacation with my sister and mother. Our lodgings were chosen by the travel agency (Fresh Tracks) and this was my favorite of all the places we stayed. It's in a great location and I love that it is an old building but completely modern, roomy bedroom and bath. What really set it apart for... More

Visiting for a professional conference, I found this gem to be comfortable and well situated in old Montreal. Rooms are simple but very clean and with large tubs and beautiful windows. Staff was delightful and I had a very nice breakfast in the attached restaurant.

We arrived early but had no problem checking in. Luc gave us a map and highlighted places to go and recommended a quint place for lunch. He was also very helpful in recommending that we walk our luggage to the port. We were a little uncertain, but it was an easy stroll. The location of the hotel is ideal; the... More

I didn't stay here, but I had dinner one evening at their restaurant (Bonaparte). It was a beautiful setting and the food was exceptional. If the hotel is as nice as the restaurant, it would be a very enjoyable stay.

My family of three stayed for 3 nights this August and were extremely impressed. Though the hotel does not look that impressive from the street, the room was comfortable both in size and amenities (could use a make-up mirror at one of the sinks); the included breakfast was more than ample and prepared and presented very enticingly (changing up one... Very nice hotel in a good location to restaurants and shops. The wifi is a little wonky and it took a bit to get connected but that was a minor inconvenience. Rooms are good sized and very clean. Breakfast was included in the rate and the restaurant is amazing - great atmosphere and the food was delicious. We also had... More

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay in the Auberge. The staff were very helpful in making our stay in the Auberge and Montreal itself very memorable. The served breakfast was wonderful. We ate dinner in the attached restaurant and had an excellent meal. The Auberge was a real find.

Due to a mistake in our booking we had to change room after the first night of our stay but we found both the rooms we had very comfortable. The hotel is located within a few minutes walk of some of the major tourist attractions and so we found it a very convenient base during our stay. When we arrived... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
