This hotel doesn't deserved it's 4+ star review as this was the worst hotel experience. The walls of the hotel are paper thin and the concierge was beyond rude. As a well travelled professional, I've never been threaten out of my room for speaking. I was supposed to stay all week however I will be checking out tomorrow morning. This... More

This is a fantastic hotel for couples. I went to Montreal with my boyfriend, and wanted to stay in Vieux Port to be near restaurants and galleries. The location is perfect for walking around in the area. The staff and concierge were extremely friendly and personable, and truly made our stay great. They were helpful, without being intrusive. The décor... More

We had the Signature Queen room with a view of the old port. The room was awesome as was the view. Exposed brick and stone with the traditional furniture really kept with the romantic ambiance we were looking for. Everyone there was very helpful and kind. Overall it was an amazing and memorable trip.

If anyone is looking for a very cool and historic boutique hotel in Old Montreal then this is the place. Old building charm but completely modern and renovated. Large beautiful rooms and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Also the tavern pub in the lobby is one of the best hotel bars I've been too. Very good food and cocktails and... More

Our experience with l’Auberge du Vieux-Port was nothing short of outstanding. Every staff member we talked with was incredibly kind and helpful. The room was beautiful and looked just as good, if not better than the pictures. The bed was soft and comfortable, the bathroom was lovely and stocked with excellent products. The valet service was exceptional, with more than... More

We stayed here for a mini-vacation and really loved the hotel. The rooms are cozy and we loved the semi-industrial interior. The staff were so friendly and helpful! We were really impressed. The restaurant attached to the hotel was fantastic and we really enjoyed the breakfasts that were included.

Great little hotel nestled in the heart of old Montreal. Room are small but very well appointed. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very helpful. If you enjoy staying "local" rather than the impersonal nature of the large hotel brands I highly recommend this hotel. The hotel is situated just off the Port and simply a short walk to everything... More

The hotel staff on arrival where friendly and genuine , and made us feel like we where the only guests in the whole place. However it was full of other guests as Iggloo fest was also in full swing. The staff treated every one with a real genuine welcome and went above and beyond to accommodate each and every guest.... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Auberge du Vieux-Port. We appreciated the location of this hotel: in the old-port area with its quaint streets and historic buildings, within walking distance of bus and subway, near good restaurants and galleries. Since we were there in winter, we were also close to Igloofest and the skating rink at the old port. Breakfast,... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
