The location of this hotel is perfect. Everything you could want is within walking distance. The staff, from the parking valet to the concierge is friendly, accomadating and knowledgeable. The rooms are super clean, with comfortable beds, good climate control and decorated with both modern touches and old world charm. The newly redone bathrooms, have wonderful aroma therapy products and... More

Stayed here 3 nights at the end of July. This is a cozy, botique place; a beautifully renovated historic warehouse with high ceilings and big windows overlooking the port on the front and Rue St Paul on the back. Comfortable room and furnishings, excellent for people watching or daydreaming about cuddling up in front of the fireplace and watching the... More

This was a lovely surprise to stay here. I had no idea where I was going and my boyfriend surprised me with this treat. It was a mere 20 min walk from the train station in the heart of Old Montreal. Location - fabulous! Front desk staff - awesome! Our room - beautiful, clean and comfortable! Roof top terrace -... More

This hotel is in a great location in the middle of St Paul facing the water. The rooms have so much character and the staff are super friendly. Lara, the concierge, her stuff and sent us to 2 great restaurants for dinner. Michael and Yesmine are very knowledgeable as well. The beds are very comfortable. We were in room 304.... More

We absolutely loved our stay here. I loved the exposed beams and the comfy beds! Also, Max, who works the front desk, was so amazing. He was helpful, polite, and always had a smile for us. I would come back just to check in on him! Thanks for providing us such a wonderful place in Montreal. :)

We spent one night at the Auberge in July. The hotel is fantastic and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was really beautiful and the bed the most comfortable ever. Nice bed and bedding. What a treat. Our room was a combination of elegant and industrial details--really nice. We enjoyed the hotel breakfast as well, and spent... More

Room 401, facing the river-gorgeous view and room! Bathrobes, great shower, comfy bed. Only issue was it got very bright early in the morning, but you just had to keep the windows shut and shades pulled tight. We got the Romance Package which included a small bottle of Moet & Chandon with chocolate covered strawberries the first day. Breakfast was... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here in honor of my college graduation, and I can't recommend this hotel enough. The staff was fantastic- we checked out in the morning, but they kept our bags downstairs so we did't have to worry about them. They were always smiling and checking in, making sure our stay was better than we had hoped.... More

We stayed in this hotel for two nights when we returned to Montreal after a trip around Nova Scotia and Quebec. I had high hopes for this hotel based on the reviews but I was left feeling a little underwhelmed about our experience. I paid a little extra for a room on the front of the hotel so we could... With a beautiful view overlooking the water and located within the beautiful historic district, our family loved staying in this thoughtfully designed and very clean studio apartment. The staff was always ready to help and they had lots of ideas of places we could explore posted in public areas, in the rooms, and in conversation. We also enjoyed using their... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
