I was rather surprised to notice that three of the walls down inside the hostel next to my dorm were full of huge graffiti with no artistic value what so ever. A key was always left on the door of the dorm so that I was not feeling confident to leave my stuff inside when I went out in the... More

I have been few times in Jazz hostel; I thought it was a nice compromise of price, location and amenities. However what happened last night (December 29th 2013) completely changed my mind. There was a drunk guy in our room, he was making a loud long discussion at midnight. Then he left and around 2 AM we heard him swearing... More

I recently stayed at the Jazz hostel in the Latin Quarter in Montreal. I've stayed at a lot of hostels in my life, and I've also stayed at one of the Jazz hostels in NYC, but this is honestly one of the very worst experiences (especially in terms of managerial response) I've ever been subject to. Heat and comfort: When... More

I have been there with some friends last Thanksgiving. I really like the time spent there. The staff team are very friendly and very helpful. We had a terrific support from a lady called Johanne. She was the one preparing the breakfast and cleaning the rooms. She was really helpful. I recommend this hostel and most of the rooms have... More

So this was my third and final Jazz stop off, I again came here expecting big big things!! I was not let down, I love Montreal, this is my favourite city in Canada.... It has everything and the location of the hostel is perfect, I'm somewhat of a Francophile anyway, so checking out the Quebecois was a natural next stop!!... More

Date: 24th August 2013, two people walk into a hostel that from the outside that looked like it had been sat there waiting for a rejuvenation, and hiding from the staff it shall never be received! So. Firstly, what not to do as citizens Pay up front for two nights when you know that other hostels allow you to pay... More

We stayed in a 10-bed-mixed dorm in the Jazz hostel. From the beginning, it was just horrible! As there are too many bad things, here are some notes: -had to change the room after two nights for the last night -no lockers in the room -the building and the room were open most of the time because no one locked... I booked in to stay in a 10 bed mixed dorm as I left booking accom really late and it was the weekend of Oshega music festival and everything was booked out. The kitchen is rather small, there isn't a real stovetop or oven so you are limited in space and ability to cook. The fridge could have better organisation... More

We stayed in room 315 which was fine; loved the wooden floors which were cool and clean on a hot day in June. Terrific location just south of all the restaurants and goings on in the Quartier Latin. Their underground garage is around the corner but there's 15 minute parking out front, enough time to drop off luggage and traveling... More

Great location, particularly for the Montreal Jazz Festival. The hostel appears to be spread over 2 sites, and the photos are of the Ontario building rather than Denis St. The rooms were ok but small which made it difficult to find somewhere to put your luggage. The temperature alternated between freezing cold and to hot. It appeared the staff couldn't... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
