I got to stay there for 3 nights and I'm really glad I chose Auberge L'Apero. Rooms and Bathrooms are very clean, the kitchen and the common areas as well. I got a really nice sleep and can only recommend the place. Continental Breakfast (cereals, toast, coffee and tea included). Paul and his team made my stay a joy! Will... More

Although this hostel is small, it is the cleanest hostel I ever visited in my travels. The bathrooms are clean, so are the rooms. The floor is so clean that i walked around bare-footed and sat on it without bothering to clean it. The management is ever mindful that the facilities are clean. I like the free breakfast, consisting of... More

I stayed there for one night before my conference had started, and I had a long travel from Warsaw, so I had a terrible jet lag and I wanted just to sleep, that's all. Appeared that this hostel has horrible acoustics and some club downstairs so I woke up many times and had felt irritated and tired in the morning.... More

Dear Guest, We are truly sorry we were not able to meet your expectations; we will take your comments into consideration in order to improve our hostel. We wanted to take the opportunity to let you know that we are not located near a club; rather, after doing some research, have found that the noise came from guests playing loud... More

I have stayed in better places, but also worse. But this hostel has a great downtown location. The rooms were clean, however there were plumbing problems while I was there, and they were trying to fix them while I was in the shower. Beds were comfortable and the heating was adequate during a particularly cold spell. I would stay here... More

Worst hostel we stayed at in a 3 month trip across Canada and Europe. Tiny rooms, tiny kitchen with only 1 fridge which is disgusting and appears to never be cleaned out. Included in the free food section during our stay was some rotting mince and lettuce, and various condiments that expired 5 months prior to our arrival. Rarely any... More

I stayed in this hostel because I wanted a quiet and affordable hostel in Montreal. Auberge is advertised as clean, calm, and relaxing. In fact, it was incredibly cramped (and I have stayed in hostels before) and very loud. Bedding was a bit dirty and there was hair on my pillow, too.

If all you'll be using your room for is a place to crash after a long day this is the perfect place to stay. Our group of 6 had a whole dorm appointed to us after e-mailing them and experienced no problems upon arrival and during our stay. Lockers were provided and they were big enough to stow away our... I stayed in this hostel for a total of 4 nights at the end of August - 4 nights too long. There were no staff to check me in on my arrival. I stood outside the door ringing the doorbell for 10 minutes before I noticed a tiny, ripped up sign, a metre from the door asking locked out guests... More

Got a double room to enjoy the space and silence. Room was a good size - enough room for my pilates in the morning. Location - great as near to the Metro, downside above a buzzing street of cafes and bars - no drama with earplugs. Having no kitchen facilities made it a bit hard and the greeny in me... More

I stayed at auberge l'apéro Montréal. The bed is an air matress, very unstable, could't sleep. The room has not been cleaned during my stay, not even a day. No oven, no cooking facilities, no shelves, no windows int the kitchen and in the room. Waiting line for the bathroom. The owner has not told me I was in the... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighborhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
