Good location, very good value. Nice decor, all rooms are unique. Good to have a kettle and a microwave in the room. Also hot drinks are available downstairs 24/7. Not sure if it has an elevator, check with them if you need it.

It's a great hotel for the value, when we arrived, me and my girlfriend, we were received by a brazillian receptionist who explained for my everything about the city. The breakfast was ok, and it is really close to a subway station and some fast food stores like Mac Donalds. About the room, it was big and confortable. I certainly... More

Got there at 2am on a very busy weekend in Montreal. Booked the hotel on purpose months in advance to avoid disappointment. Came to my room in a hallway with a common bathroom. The comforter had cigarette Butts in it . The bed looked like it was done by a child. Absolutely no fire place or TV that functioned. The... More

I stay at Celebrities Hotel as part of my bank credit reward. Was a bit skeptic from others' reviews. Yes, the hotel do need some TLC with their rooms. (walk up, no elevators) The minute we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff till the day we left. Although not all of them speak fluent English, which we didn't... More

No frills here! This hotel has a GREAT location; about 0.3 miles from the Berri UQAM Metro Station, and <5 minutes from tea/coffee shops, food, bars, grocery stores and more. The hotel itself is quaint, clean, and well-maintained. There is free coffee and tea available 24 hours a day with cream & sugar. I had room 306 (Cedar Room): the... More

It is a quirky hotel with original rooms of a good size, short walking distance to the harbour area, and a reasonable stroll down town (20+minutes). Far better than staying in a standard hotel room! Friendly staff Our room was very hot because the air conditioner wasn't powerful enough to cope with the size of room. On a cooler day... More

The staff was friendly. We stayed at a room that's on the first floor. There was no problem with the room we stayed at, however, there can be LOTS of updates for this place. The heating system, the building it self and the room. You can tell it's obviously a bit outdated. The washroom can be designed better as well.... More

From the moment I stepped through the door of this hotel to the moment I left, I received excellent customer service from all of the reception clerks. The room was well decorated and clean. There was a microwave oven and a small fridge, amenities that I appreciate. There was no hairdryer. The WIFI worked well. The location could not have... More

This hotel was picked for me with a group on a bachelor party weekend. Money seems to be the top motivating factor for the pick. It was insanely cheap with the strong U.S. dollar. You really do get what you pay for. I'd suggest staying at this hotel if you are tight on money, don't need or like a clean... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighborhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centers, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
