A weekend getaway to one of our favorite cities, Montreal. We've stayed at a few different hotels, always in or very near the old town center. This was our second stay at Hotel Zero 1. It's clean and modern, and we love that it has a fridge and large shower area. Nice restaurant attached is convenient for all meals, and... More

We booked a last minute room at Hotel Zero 1. The room was surprisingly small, but upon inspection, was fully equipped! Fridge, microwave, flatware, coffee/tea, wine glasses and wine tool. They thought of everything! We station a Saturday night and the other guests on our floor were loud in the hallways several times through the night. Towels were cheap, but... More

We stayed in room #1210 for 1 night, following a party in the Old Port. It's a boutique hotel with a great location near Chinatown, Old Montreal and the Old Port, which are all within a 15 minute walk. It has a modern décor style and everything is small scale, the lobby, the bathroom, the shower etc.. which is OK... More

Hotel room was good, small but conformable. There were a few laminate boards out of place creating gaps in the floor. Boards moved so we needed to walk a bit more carefully to make sure we don't slip on them. Bathroom was clean, but shower was very, very small. As an approximation, the shower was a bit smaller than an... More

I stayed here while in Montreal looking for an apartment. The rooms have small kitchenettes tucked tastefully behind cupboard doors, which allowed me to save a good amount of money while here. The staff is very friendly, the hotel and rooms are clean, the wifi works well. The business centre is basic - good for email, printing and scanning (I... More

Pros: location to the core of the city, nearby China town, nearby banks: BMO, HSBC, RBC in walking distance if you are from Ontario. Overall a clean hotel, bed is comfortable for my preference. Built-in "closet" style for a mini-kitchen (ie. sink and mini-fridge is hidden) BUT there's no stove at the unit listed. Provides the Paya brand of shower... More

The hotel is in a pretty good location. The rooms are well equipped and clean. The decor wasn't really for me (black and white, with plastic and metal furniture and a very low bed). Biggest drawback was the broken air conditioning during an early heat wave. 28 degrees is too warm to sleep and opening the windows let the traffic... More

I spent 3 nights 4 days at Hotel Zero 1 and it was just so relaxing. The hotel is clean, it is quiet and the staff is very helpful. The restaurant in the lobby is pretty good. The provisoir is open 24hrs if in need of anything (drinks, chips, milk...) All in all I will be staying at Zero 1... More

Zero 1 is a great place to stay for a city visit. You can walk in minutes to several museums , local art galleries, Montreals main theatres and concert hall ,as well as to the Old Port. There are excellent restaurants close by if you choose carefully. And cabs are easy to hail .This part of Montreal is in transition.... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
