What a monumental mistake booking this residence! It was an absolute sweat box. There is no a/c and the window can only be opened a few inches. The small frig puts out heat which is retained in the stale air that smells like burnt dust. It had to be over 90 in the room. Tiny bathroom with a miniature sink... More

Flying from Tokyo, one of the most expensive cities in the world, I found this place did not even worth the money. I stayed in a studio at $75+tax. The whole building did not have air conditioning, wifi was accessible only in the lobby (no wifi in the rooms). It was very nice of the them to provide towels and... More

Excellent price for its quality in downton montreal. Near of everything. Economic for young couple. It is not a great hotel like the mariotte or the Queen but you greatly save for your journey in montreal.

As someone has already noted, the rooms are barebones, e.g. lacking basic kitchen tools. There is a washing room (1.25 for washing, 1.5 for drying). There is also a piano and a foosball. On the (very) plus side, the location is unbeatable, expecially if you are visiting to attend one of the famous Montreal festivals! Note that there is NO... More

You get what you pay for. These rooms are dorm rooms re-purposed as hotel rooms during the summer. Our room was tiny (and the bathroom tinier), the bed was hard, the pillows were very flat, the towels were tiny, there's no air conditioning, and there's no maid service. However, the room had a nice desk, free wired internet (no WiFi),... More

Came back at 2 am to find a stranger was in the room, apparently let in by hotel staff. Had to move our things out and leave at 3am. The person working at the time was apologetic, but afterwards the other hotel staff refused a refund and said we were overreacting. Afterwards we noticed missing items. This was literally the... The staff is extremely rude and you feel like you disturb them every time you talk to them. There are cockroaches and evacuations of the building for a couple hours at night seem to have happen quite frequently during my stay. DO NOT GO!

I lodged in UQAM in a studio type room while attending General Assembly & Congress of IUCr held in Montreal during 5th to 11th August,2014. Facilities provided were satisfactory except that bed linens were not regularly changed.UQAM personnel were helpful and cooperative. I liked the city of Montreal and UQAM.

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
