Came back at 2 am to find a stranger was in the room, apparently let in by hotel staff. Had to move our things out and leave at 3am. The person working at the time was apologetic, but afterwards the other hotel staff refused a refund and said we were overreacting. Afterwards we noticed missing items. This was literally the... The staff is extremely rude and you feel like you disturb them every time you talk to them. There are cockroaches and evacuations of the building for a couple hours at night seem to have happen quite frequently during my stay. DO NOT GO!

I lodged in UQAM in a studio type room while attending General Assembly & Congress of IUCr held in Montreal during 5th to 11th August,2014. Facilities provided were satisfactory except that bed linens were not regularly changed.UQAM personnel were helpful and cooperative. I liked the city of Montreal and UQAM.

I stayed at the Residences (shared 3 rooms) from July 25-28, and for $60 per night, I got I paid for. The place was well-kept, clean, and surprisingly quiet. Even the common areas like kitchen, bathroom, and living area are okay. However, it was sooo hot that I had to open the windows that are covered by heavy drapes. The... More

I have stayed at UQAM West three times for the Montreal Jazz Festival. This University Dorm is one block away from the festival. It is also convenient to buses and Metro. Plenty of restaurants are within walking distance. I have stayed in a studio room with a bed for 2 people, private bathroom and small kitchen area. Food can be... More

This isn't a hotel per se but a university student residence with rooms to rent. They are very basic or plain rooms/dorms (the least expensive rooms have shared bathrooms) and ideal for tourists on a tight budget. My room was a studio with a private bathroom and a small kitchenette (no utensils, mugs, etc provided). There was soap and shampoo... More

Perfect location (right in the middle of downtown close to all the bars, restaurants and shopping), friendly and polite staff, when i got there room was extremely clean. I stayed here because of the $52 a night rate they offer to Pouzza Fest goers and was satisfied with my stay here during the festival. My only complaints are no microwave,... More

What you get a UQAM is a basic room in a good location for Montreal. Overall I think the value for money is quite good. In my room, the wired internet didn't work but I was able to access eduroam from the adjacent university building. One night there was a very loud party at the end of the corridor. And,... More

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theaters, and exhibition centers are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
