We had an excellent stay at Gingerbread Manor. The location was ideal near the heart of downtown Montreal and near a metro/subway stop. The historic house was beautiful and so was our room and bathroom. All modern conveniences are available as well, too, so that's a big plus. Breakfasts during our stay were varied and delicious (served hot) and the... More

This B&B offered a nicely decorated room that was very comfortable with everything we needed and featured a great breakfast served up by wonderful hosts. The location was just what we wanted, close to everything but quiet at night.

Room with balcony overlooking quiet street close to old city. Regal breakfast -- crepes suzette on our morning. Charming host. Good local advice if you want it (we did). The host thought out all the details - spare toiletries, teas for every taste. Fair warning to US travelers: there is apparently no ADA for inns in Canada. Check if you... More

Thank you for your review Robert. You are correct, there is no Canadian equivalent and B&Bs are exempt from accessibility rules. We have 12 steps to the front door, 22 to the first landing with rooms and a further 18 to the top landing with just our 130 year-old grand Victorian staircase. Ah, but rarely do you get to see... Three of us stayed for 3 nights in the Frontenac room on the second floor, The room was spacious, comfortable & cozy, even though there were 3 of us. The air conditioning worked really well. The beds were comfy & had nice, clean linens on them. We had to share the large bathroom with another room, but didn't find that... More

Thank you for your review. We have to admit that we were a bit worried with your allergy, but glad that we made it through with flying colours. Sorry about the cook being chatty... he's a morning person... okay, maybe he's chatty all the time, but still, he's trying to be helpful! And isn't it great that you can get... More

Excellent location for this B&B, a lot of good restaurants within walking distance and metro is also very close. The B&B itself is an awesome building, beautifully kept and the room was also very comfortable. I really liked how the hosts provided very detailed instructions for everything and felt like any questions we had were promptly answered. The breakfasts were... More

Thank you for the review and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry you didn't seem to enjoy our home made vegetable quiche, our home made strata or our French toast with blueberries, peaches and lavender. You missed crepes Suzette on the last day.... But we are glad that you enjoyed our B&B and found us... More

My partner and I stayed in the Carlton from July 31 - Aug 3, 2015. The proprietors were excellent hosts, the breakfasts were yummy, and the location is perfect. 5 minute walk to the metro and tons of bars/shopping/restaurants nearby. The room was cozy indeed, and had a lovely little balcony which was perfect for people-watching in the evening. Would... More

In a busy and crowded city, our hosts were mindful of parking and we were able to reserve a spot in the garage for a pre-book lower price. The B&B is located right in the city and within walking distance to Sherbrooke metro station and shops, bars and restaurants along St Denis. Our hosts were very friendly and likes to... More

The Gingerbread Manor is located walking distance from many of the main attractions in Montreal. It is just off busy Sherbrooke street, but the building itself is in a quiet neighbourhood with a lovely park nearby. As for my stay, everything was excellent. The hosts were friendly, and everything was very clean. Breakfast was delicious, I spent a week there... More

Imagine yourself waking up in a 3-storey, picturesque, historic, clean townhouse built in 1885, and the first thing that hits you is the scent of breakfast, while you slowly wake up in your comfortable bed. Already, I imagine this going through your head: "Built in 1885?" That's right, the location is 130 years old. That location has the most charming... More

We chose Gingerbread Manor based on the reviews. For us, it was just what we wanted. It is in a great, walkable part of Montreal. We had a large room, the Champlain, which we really appreciated. Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
