In a busy and crowded city, our hosts were mindful of parking and we were able to reserve a spot in the garage for a pre-book lower price. The B&B is located right in the city and within walking distance to Sherbrooke metro station and shops, bars and restaurants along St Denis. Our hosts were very friendly and likes to... More

The Gingerbread Manor is located walking distance from many of the main attractions in Montreal. It is just off busy Sherbrooke street, but the building itself is in a quiet neighbourhood with a lovely park nearby. As for my stay, everything was excellent. The hosts were friendly, and everything was very clean. Breakfast was delicious, I spent a week there... More

Imagine yourself waking up in a 3-storey, picturesque, historic, clean townhouse built in 1885, and the first thing that hits you is the scent of breakfast, while you slowly wake up in your comfortable bed. Already, I imagine this going through your head: "Built in 1885?" That's right, the location is 130 years old. That location has the most charming... More

We chose Gingerbread Manor based on the reviews. For us, it was just what we wanted. It is in a great, walkable part of Montreal. We had a large room, the Champlain, which we really appreciated. The bed was really comfortable and nicely made up. We had a shared bathroom, which was spotless. The breakfast was excellent, too! The hosts... More

We really enjoyed the location of this B&B. It is close enough to old Montreal to walk and situated in a very cute neighborhood. There is a nice part within a block tat has a coffee shop. It was nice to sit on a park bench and enjoy the spring day while watching the families of the neighborhood. Also within... More

We are happy that your enjoyed our neighbourhood and your stay with us. There is a small common room (the solarium) beyond the kitchen for guests with two chairs and a TV. Beyond that, there is a deck that is open in the summer for guests as well. We are sorry that you were disappointed that we don't offer free... More

This was my 2nd visit to The Gingerbread Manor and once again, my stay was perfect. Ephraim and Yves know how to make you feel welcome from the minute you walk through the door. It doesn’t feel like a hotel, but rather like coming home. I stayed in The Champlain room, which was spacious with a very comfortable bed. Each... More

I cannot recommend enough this charming B & B, near Carre St. Louis (the neighborhood where the great Quebec symbolist poet Emile Nelligan spent his childhood!), steps away from the Sherbrooke Metro station. The suites are all clean, comfortable with all the contemporary amenities, while still retaining the nineteenth century charm of this grand old Victorian house. Yves and Ephraim... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Gingerbread Manor, our first time at a B&B. The house itself is very warm and inviting, in no small part due to the hospitality of our gregarious hosts. The breakfasts were a great way to start our days, and the convenient location made exploring the city very easy. The staff are very knowledgeable about... More

I stayed with Yves and Ephraim on my first visit to Montreal 8 years ago at Gingerbread House. Well, the wee small house is all grown up, moved and turned into the wonderful grande dame that is the Gingerbread Manor. If you like Holiday Inn, Marriott, Sheraton and suchlike, this is probably not the place for you. But if you... More

One of the main attractions of the Gingerbread Mansion for me was its location—close to a number of different neighborhoods, access to subways, bikes, parking, and walkable to all sorts of places. I loved the little park close by!

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
