This was my 2nd visit to The Gingerbread Manor and once again, my stay was perfect. Ephraim and Yves know how to make you feel welcome from the minute you walk through the door. It doesn’t feel like a hotel, but rather like coming home. I stayed in The Champlain room, which was spacious with a very comfortable bed. Each... More

I cannot recommend enough this charming B & B, near Carre St. Louis (the neighborhood where the great Quebec symbolist poet Emile Nelligan spent his childhood!), steps away from the Sherbrooke Metro station. The suites are all clean, comfortable with all the contemporary amenities, while still retaining the nineteenth century charm of this grand old Victorian house. Yves and Ephraim... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Gingerbread Manor, our first time at a B&B. The house itself is very warm and inviting, in no small part due to the hospitality of our gregarious hosts. The breakfasts were a great way to start our days, and the convenient location made exploring the city very easy. The staff are very knowledgeable about... More

I stayed with Yves and Ephraim on my first visit to Montreal 8 years ago at Gingerbread House. Well, the wee small house is all grown up, moved and turned into the wonderful grande dame that is the Gingerbread Manor. If you like Holiday Inn, Marriott, Sheraton and suchlike, this is probably not the place for you. But if you... More

One of the main attractions of the Gingerbread Mansion for me was its location—close to a number of different neighborhoods, access to subways, bikes, parking, and walkable to all sorts of places. I loved the little park close by!

Oui (we...lol) enjoyed our stay in Montreal a great deal, and in part due to the wonderful accommodations and courteous service of the B&B Manager and his staff. The building and rooms are charming and on an inviting tree lined avenue, a peaceful park is close by. The location offers quick access to the many offerings of the city of... More

We spent 3 nights in this lovely B&B which was in the perfect location to explore Montréal. The Victorian house was oozing with charme and our room was well equipped with a modern and clean bathroom. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. They whipped up different and delicious breakfast menus each morning. We felt very welcome during the whole... More

I've never written a review online because I'm pretty lazy and also fairly easy to please, but in the age of Air BnB (which I have conflicting feelings about--but if it hurts anyone, it is primarily small businesses like Gingerbread Manor), I wanted to support this locally-owned gem in one of my favorite cities. My husband and I stayed here... More

Four of us (two couples) spent two nights last month at Gingerbread Manor B&B. The B&B is an older building (three-story townhouse) in an eclectic neighborhood (the Latin Quarter), about a 1 mile walk from Old Montreal. Located near the university, there are a lot of college-types in the area, especially at the pedestrian mall, 1 block away, which features... More

Thank you for your review. We endeavour to provide an excellent stay in a real 125 year old Victorian manor at a reasonable price in a great location in Montreal's Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood. The stately manor has genuine plaster walls, a beautiful wood staircase and magnificent mouldings; beautiful craftsmanship that we so rarely see and enjoy today. We make thousands... More

Ginger and Manor BB is located right in the center of Montreal. Rooms are spacious and clean, very good breakfast, friendly atmosphere. I recommend this place to visitors coming to Montreal for a short stay. Marek, September 2014

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
