This was our second stay at the Gingerbread Manor and it was just as lovely as our first. We again stayed in Champlain but this time our daughter was in Wolfe&Montcalm - she said it has one of the most comfortable beds she has ever slept in! A couple of things I noticed since our last stay was that there... More

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Gingerbread Manor. It is located in a nice neighborhood, walking distance to downtown, Mount Royal Park and public transportation, as well as many restaurants. Our room was lovely with a cozy sitting area adjacent to a large bay window. The breakfasts were wonderful with a different focus every day. Our host... More

I want to preface this review by saying I am in no way shape or form being coerced into writing this. Many times on reviews when we see plenty of positive reviews we are quick to assume that the business owners selectively coerce certain customers to write a positive review. This is not the case with the Gingerbread Manor. I... More

There are lots of choices in Montreal and we are very glad we chose this B&B. It was perfectly located for restaurants, bars, sightseeing, hiking and exploring. We walked everywhere from this location. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. There are 2 flights of steep stairs so if you have issues... More

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. The city's work (water supply, not sewers) wasn't really something we had control over. Unfortunately it was supposed to end at the end of October but dragged on. Fortunately it has officially finished and our street is completely back to normal. Does that mean that we now merit the 5 bubbles?... More

My husband and I spent 3 lovely nights at Gingerbread Manor, situated in a excellent location in the Plateau easy walking distance to lots of restaurants, cafes bars and points of interest. Also a 20 minutes walk to to down and the port of Montreal and the base of the Parc du Mont Royal. Our room de Maisonneuve ( with... More

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. The city has finished (their delayed work) and the street is back to being the quiet street we so love to share with our guests. The fridge in the dining room has two shelves at the bottom that are for the shared use of our guests. Thanks for the review! More

We stayed at Gingerbread Manor for four nights as part of our honeymoon in North America. Yves and Ephraim were superb, thoughtful hosts who very kindly left us a wedding gift when they realised the nature of our holiday! Couldn't recommend them enough; they made our stay in Montreal fantastic.

We just checked out of Gingerbread Manor after a fabulous 2-night stay. We couldn't have asked for anything more - our room (Cartier, second floor with an ensuite) was spotless, well-appointed and came with a better variety of toiletries and other bathroom items than one would find in a 4* hotel. The furnishings included a very comfortable queen bed, wing... More

This was our first visit to Montreal. It is a beautiful and welcoming city. Our B & B was spacious and the room was spotless. Ephraim, our host, kept us entertained each morning with good food and many stories. We were near public transportation and local restaurants which were quite good. We went on foot to Old Town but it's... More

Thank you, Rob for your review. We sometimes forget that not everyone is used to walking around town, luckily we are just 2 blocks away from the Sherbrooke Metro station as well as being on several of the major bus lines. And of course, it's a great city to get around by bicycle as well. The city's infrastructure work is... More

We had a room with ensuite and a bed and day bed as we were not a couple. The room was beautifully furnished/ the whole place was lovely.I took a peek at some of the rooms which looked out onto the street and they had a lovely view of the trees and street (better than our view). Ephraim and Yves were... More

Thank you for your review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. The rooms with ensuite are at the rear of the house, so while quieter, they lack the street view that is so beautiful in Montreal, especially in our neighbourhood with the Victorian homes and the famous staircases on the outside. Ephraim works hard on those French... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
