Each room is a wonderful piece of art. Can't wait to stay in another room. The hallways have interesting art hanging. The bar is good with excellent food served for breakfast and lunch. The bartenders make excellent cappuccinos. The neighborhood is up and coming with great little shops and restaurants. BangBang Ice Cream is excellent but be prepared to wait... More

This hotel had a really cool vibe, lots of great art to see on every floor. The elevator ride is one of a kind. All the rooms are different. We happened to get the all white room with cool shapes coming out of the wall. Super clean, well maintained, helpful staff. Bathrooms are a little on the small side but... More

The hotel is very near a trendy bar/pub/restaurant street. So great location. The hotel has an artsy feel to it and is definitely trendy. Unfortunately our bedroom was tiny, nothing like in the pictures, we had the street noise, and they only have "queen" beds, which ended up being as big as a twin...

We had the pleasure of filming a short film at the amazing tower suite at the Gladstone. With 360 degree views of the city, it's the perfect setting for a unique, urban experience. The room is filled with character and the staff is extremely helpful and courteous. I highly recommend the Gladstone while staying in Toronto!

Second time staying at the Gladstone the staff are always very friendly and helpful. It is such a lovely space with unique rooms far better than the typical hotel experience. The rooms are small but perfect for a good nights sleep. Great location a bit away from the heavy traffic but easy to walk to shops and restaurants.

I booked a "classic room" through a travel portal, not directly with Gladstone Hotel in order to save a few bucks. When we arrived, we were given the red room. I wasn't overly excited because I just moved into my own house last year and repainted all the red walls left from the previous owner. So it felt like I... More

Love the building, very colourful and airy and artsy and there is a sense of history that goes along with it. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, always smiling wiling to lend a hand. My friends and I had a great lunch together and we definitely plan on coming back to check dinner and local music.

We had a work gathering for a period of about a week. We stayed in the hotel, as well as made use of their meeting room facilities, restaurant, other catering. It is an art hotel. The rooms are all differently designed and decorated. The room was fairly comfortable, but the bathroom was very small and a little dark. The hallways... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gladstone over a Thursday & Friday night in early June, our first visit to Toronto. The location is perfect, just west of downtown on the tram line, in an area with loads of galleries, bars and restaurants. The character of the building has been preserved and although the room was small, it made... More

I hate most Toronto hotels. It seems my choices are either an outrageously overpriced 'historic' property, an outrageously overpriced 'luxury' property, or a mildly overpriced and bland chain hotel. But then the Gladstone came into our lives. The rooms at the Gladstone (in itself a work of art - TO's oldest continually operating hotel, built in 1889; the interior boasts... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
