We visited the hotel and it looked quite nice, old turn of the century-hotel in hip urban setting.good bar friendly helpful staff. On our room we found in the amenities a set of earplugs. Late in the evening we found out why,the hotel is pretty noisy and has alittle concerthall on the groundfloor with music you might not want to hear... More

The Gladstone is a wonderful, quirky, arts-oriented boutique property in the funky Queens West neighborhood of Toronto. Staff is super friendly and accommodating, rooms are comfortable with great linens (albeit tiny), the cafe serves a tasty menu, and the art is everywhere. During my stay there was an exhibition of staff art that was fun. The hotel cafe/bar seems to... More

Dear Cheryl, We are so happy to hear that you had a nice experience at the hotel. We really appreciate that you took the time to check out our staff exhibition too! Queen West is actually the art and design district here in Toronto, and did you know that it was voted the coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.com?... More

I've never stayed any place like the Gladstone before! Each room is designed by a different local artist and/or architect. I stayed in the "offset" room where the concept was a "room within a room". You need to see it to truly experience it. Overall the stay was good. Service was great - especially the prompt elevator attendant. Room was... More

Dear Ariel, Thank you for staying with us and sharing your experience. Room 411 - Offset was designed by artists/architects Heather Dubbeldam and Tania Ursomarzo and is a stunning example of skeletal construction. Since we are a heritage listed building there are certain accommodations in the rooms. Although we don't have too many complaints about the size of the bathrooms,... More

This hotel tells a story. The exterior of the building and its elevator speak to its past, while each of its rooms and gallery spaces help explain what's happening in West Queen Street's present. Unlike other boutique hotels that have a more Starbucks for the hep set tone, the Gladstone offers it unique character and warmth to all of its... More

What a fabulous boutique Hotel! The room I was in, quaint and we'll decorated. I instantly felt at home. The staff was extremely helpful and respectful. The Gladstone "Cowboy" elevator is a must see! The Hotel attendant also operates the elevator (rides up with you/down as well when your leaving) this immediately gave you a classic experience, and does not... More

Me and my wife stayed here this month for my birthday and to check out Caribana. Most of the hotels were pretty booked up in the area but I found The Gladstone. At first the area looked a little sketchy viewing photos but we did some more research and decided we would just roll with the punches. It turned out... More

Dear Brandin, Thanks for taking the time to review the Gladstone Hotel. We are so happy to hear that you and your wife enjoyed your stay with us. Being in the art district, it may or may not surprise you to know that the Gladstone is a boutique art hotel! Hopefully you had a chance to check out our art... More

Each room is a wonderful piece of art. Can't wait to stay in another room. The hallways have interesting art hanging. The bar is good with excellent food served for breakfast and lunch. The bartenders make excellent cappuccinos. The neighborhood is up and coming with great little shops and restaurants. BangBang Ice Cream is excellent but be prepared to wait... More

This hotel had a really cool vibe, lots of great art to see on every floor. The elevator ride is one of a kind. All the rooms are different. We happened to get the all white room with cool shapes coming out of the wall. Super clean, well maintained, helpful staff. Bathrooms are a little on the small side but... More

The hotel is very near a trendy bar/pub/restaurant street. So great location. The hotel has an artsy feel to it and is definitely trendy. Unfortunately our bedroom was tiny, nothing like in the pictures, we had the street noise, and they only have "queen" beds, which ended up being as big as a twin...

We had the pleasure of filming a short film at the amazing tower suite at the Gladstone. With 360 degree views of the city, it's the perfect setting for a unique, urban experience. The room is filled with character and the staff is extremely helpful and courteous. I highly recommend the Gladstone while staying in Toronto!

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
