This is far from a chain hotel. The Gladstone is located in a beautifully restored building incorporating many of the original features. Every room is different - ours was quite comfortable, but small. Staff was very helpful and the onsite restaurant and bar were great.

We stayed one night at The Gladstone in the Surreal Gourmet room designed by Bob Blumer. While we didn't use most of the amenities provided, it was very nice to have a panini press, microwave sink etc in the room. We did partake in a steamwhistle from the fridge! The bed was beyond comfortable with fluffy pillows that you just... More

Stayed at this hotel for business travel. The rooms are all painted different colors. My room was maroon so I was pumped up to go in the morning. Joking aside, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall speaking a nice stay in Toronto.

I've stayed at the Gladstone twice and had a different room each time. The staff there is really attentive and aim to go the extra mile to make you feel well taken care of. The food is also quite good, I particularly enjoyed breakfast. The only reason I gave a 4/5 rating instead of a 5/5 is that in this... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your experience with us and fellow travelers. We have great ambitions for the hotel in 2015 and will be re-designing 5 rooms per year, among other wonderful projects, with the goal of improving functional aspects and the general level of comfort of the rooms, as per your observation. I stayed for a week. An old hotel/art gallery, very interesting concept. My room was interesting but not as impressive as I thought... Ok I wasn't the one to book and it was quite late according to the dates... The hotel is definitely gorgeous though, with its old wooden n' metal elevator. The bar-restaurant offers a cozy ambiance and surprisingly... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for submitting your impressions of your stay with us. I am thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Hard to rate this unusual hotel. I've been going back and forth on whether to give it 3 or 4 stars. It had a similar art-focused feel as 21c Museum Hotel in Louisville but without the luxurious amenities and with an awesome queer feel. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights for our anniversary. We had lots of... More

Dear Madam, Thank you for your kind comments and for bringing some issues to my attention. As the oldest continuously run hotel in Toronto and the volume of clients coming through the hotel annually, there will unfortunately be some wear and tear. We have established a maintenance plan to offer the best level of upkeep possible. We have also planned... More

I needed to stay near Exhibition Place, so decided on the Gladstone. Great looking rooms etc. on the web, but in reality: beaten up, noisy and uncomfortable. The main floor is a concert venue and any room above is held hostage to the noise. I complained, but was told, "it's an urban experience", or it's a "creative space". Really? They... More

Dear Sir, Thank you for sharing your experience with us and fellow travelers. I am very sorry to hear that your stay with us was not satisfactory. The Gladstone hotel is well known, primarily for its very unique and elaborate art program, which is the corner stone of this art hotel. We have over 4500 square feet of exhibition space... More

A fine place to hook up after a night of drinking, I would think. This is, of course, the crux of their business. Not a luxurious experience, otherwise. Would -not- stay here again. The room was banged up - chips on the wall, mysterious fluids/stains on the walls, damage to the furniture, no bathrobes, the world's oldest/smallest living television, no... More

Dear Sir/Madam, I do not find your comments very constructive nor informative for fellow travelers, especially since you decided to leave the hotel a few minutes after check-in. We do not position our property as a luxury establishment in any way and I believe that our price points reaffirm that, however, we are a very well respected art boutique hotel,... More

The Gladstone Hotel was built and named after British Lord Gladstone in the 1890's. The family had a complete renovation of the hotel in the 1980's (?). It is the equivalent of the 2LC Museum Hotels being built in mid size cities in the United States. There is art on every floor and each room has been designed by a... More
