I just tried to make a booking at Toronto Townhouse at 213 Carleton Street, where I have stayed many times and had marvellous experiences. When I finally got through to Tan, one of the Toronto Townhouse owners, I learned that they have had to close the B&B because of sickness in Tan's immediate family. They have sold the building and... I was delighted when I I am not an active writer in Tripadvisor but I just couldn't keep quiet when was finally able to re-connect with Tan via his old email, and stayed at Tan’s new place. It is a contemporary home located in a residential area near Dundas & Broadview. It is within few minutes’ walk to Broadview and... More

top rate place with a great breakfast, super nice owner and a great location - walk out the door and you're right on the street-car line. Nicely furnished and the owner, Tan, was very helpful, a real likeable guy - helped me with my luggage, directions, suggestions etc..... great home base when you're away from town!!!!

I stayed here in the Summer of 2013 for a couple of nights and had a very pleasant stay. The owner is a great host and very welcoming and the property is very quiet, peaceful and secure. It's well located, enabling you to explore a 'real' urban neighbourhood, as opposed to being caught up in a business/tourist district. I had... More

If you are looking for a relaxing place to feel at home, to have a "home base" in between jaunts into Toronto, this is your place. When I arrived, the owner, Tan, greeted me, got me set up with parking, and then pulled out a map. He showed me where we were, where Kensington Market, the CN tower, and Chinatown... More

This is my 3rd visit to The Toronto Town House. Although, it is almost 5 years since my last visit, the place hasn't changed ! Yes it is still a property full of character, clean, tidy & the ever friendly host. Tan is conscientious & you can always be sure of clean bedding, clean towels, clean bathrooms. Yes, several rooms... More

Great location, immaculate and lovely house, yummy hot breakfast, friendly and informative host. Spectacular view of downtown from our patio. What's not to like? Can't think of a thing. Highly recommended.

Two things surprised us about the Toronto Townhouse. The first thing was being asked to remove our shoes as soon as we arrived, the second thing was that we had to share a bathroom. We had the Peaches and Dreams room and although the website does not say it is en-suite it doesn't say that it has a shared bathroom... More

I was visiting Toronto for work for a few days but wanted somewhere with character. This was perfect. I had a large room with a balcony over the pretty back garden. Plenty of room to spread my stuff out and a shared bathroom next door. Tan served delicious breakfasts and was full of good advice for bargain restaurants in town.... More

I have just had the most relaxing experience in Toronto in years, starting of with Ten, the owner of this sweet, clean and convenient B&B. He was so helpful, and informative, and I would recommend this place and go again and again. Its obvious how much he cares Maureen becker, Owner of La-Tea-datearoom in Rochester NY

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
