I thought this hotel was of a good standard. It was clean, comfortable and a very good location to the city centre. The hotel is less than 5 minutes from Sherbourne Subway station. If travelling from the airport take the UP train to Union, and change there for the subway. We walked to the downtown - takes a good 30... More

This hotel is a modern building with an attractive lobby and adjacent breakfast area - a corner with a few tables and a bar; it is located about a mile from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but is on a bus line and near the Bloor Subway station (a few blocks). The room (205) is rather bare, but roomy... More

Arrival: weeds on the patio, empty glasses, windows not cleaned (for a long time) Rooms: small, more or less clean, airco built in window and not shut, so you can enjoy the street noise all night long. Breakfast: toast, cereal and juice, area is sticky and dusty. Reception hall: not cleaned.

Hotel was conveniently located near a subway stop, and was reasonably priced. However, the room was very small and cramped, the AC did not work (and the window could not be opened, so the room was extremely hot), and the breakfast was minimal and virtually non-existent. It was fine for our purposes - we were mostly out of the room... More

I stayed there for 3 nights last week and i have to say I am very disappointed with this hotel. I didn't have too high expectations of this place but i didn't expect what we got either. The hotel descriptions say there is air conditioning in the room but during our stay it didn't work for a minute. The weather... More

I'll begin with the positive: It's a five minute walk to the Metro. Now some hard facts: When we checked in, the lady at the front desk told us she was going to walk to our room to make sure everything was "in place." A bit strange but ok. Then she comes back to tell us the hotel is out... More

Although the trip started off a bit odd were the parking is rather hidden, the rest of the stay turned out quite well! We only stayed here two nights, and although it's not in the best "neighborhood" as in, where after we parked, we were told by a local to leave NOTHING VISIBLE in the vehicle, the local vibe is... Booked a two night stay at the Isabella due to its location and price. The positives: its quiet, good staff, good restaurant and bar and cheap parking. The negatives: ran out of breakfast food, wifi is weak, could not control room temperature and rooms are small.

Elevator out of service so had to walk up to 3rd floor room. Bed felt comfortable but sheets didn't look clean (stains). Slept on top of the top sheet with no blanket. Used bathroom towel which appeared clean but fraying a bit to cover pillow which also looked stained. TV reception was poor, lots of static. Tried wiggling wires but... More

This hotel is very close to a subway stop and short rides to anywhere interesting...R.O.M., Ontario Art Gallery, etc. The rooms are small and basic, but adequate. The beds are a little hard; not the comfiest. Staff are very friendly. One day we missed breakfast, but they still pulled out some coffee and muffins for us.The BEST part is Gabby's...a... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
