Ok we're not talking 5 stars here. But for around $100/night in downtown Toronto you get a clean room (small for sure), a decent to good bed and relative peace and quiet. Restaurant on site and 24 hour desk as well. I would suggest it is the best bargain hotel in the city.

We had reserved a room for 4 people (2 adults + 2 children), a double bed and a coach. The coach was closed and we couldn't find the sheets to make the bed, so we used two blankets instead. The following day they made the bed again with the blankets. It was a very large room, though, located in the... More

I recently stayed at Isabella Hotel and Suites for two nights and would have easily stayed a third if given the opportunity. Let me start by saying that it's a quite charming hotel with a nice facade and very well-situated. The hotel is close to the city center (near Bloor Street) yet on a more tranquil stretch of road near... More

First bedroom allocated had two large bubbles of water behind the wallpaper due to recent heavy rain, not the first time according to one of the staff, and hadn't been cleaned. We complained to reception and they moved us to a much better room - more like a family room - perfect for the rest of our stay. Continental style... More

I thought this hotel was of a good standard. It was clean, comfortable and a very good location to the city centre. The hotel is less than 5 minutes from Sherbourne Subway station. If travelling from the airport take the UP train to Union, and change there for the subway. We walked to the downtown - takes a good 30... More

This hotel is a modern building with an attractive lobby and adjacent breakfast area - a corner with a few tables and a bar; it is located about a mile from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but is on a bus line and near the Bloor Subway station (a few blocks). The room (205) is rather bare, but roomy... More

Arrival: weeds on the patio, empty glasses, windows not cleaned (for a long time) Rooms: small, more or less clean, airco built in window and not shut, so you can enjoy the street noise all night long. Breakfast: toast, cereal and juice, area is sticky and dusty. Reception hall: not cleaned.

Hotel was conveniently located near a subway stop, and was reasonably priced. However, the room was very small and cramped, the AC did not work (and the window could not be opened, so the room was extremely hot), and the breakfast was minimal and virtually non-existent. It was fine for our purposes - we were mostly out of the room... More

I stayed there for 3 nights last week and i have to say I am very disappointed with this hotel. I didn't have too high expectations of this place but i didn't expect what we got either. The hotel descriptions say there is air conditioning in the room but during our stay it didn't work for a minute. The weather... More

I'll begin with the positive: It's a five minute walk to the Metro. Now some hard facts: When we checked in, the lady at the front desk told us she was going to walk to our room to make sure everything was "in place." A bit strange but ok. Then she comes back to tell us the hotel is out... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
