When we got in the room we noticed all kind of insects in the bed so we complained a lot at the front desk and they offered us a refund for the first night and changed our room. However, I noticed the tomorrow almost an hundred of itchy bites all over my body and I figured out they were caused... More

it is nothing fancy, it is only a backpackers. Prime location in the down town area. This hostel is fun, the staff are great and i met some fantastic people too. Free breakfast to set up for for the day, you can not complain about that. Had a great time. Thanks Global Village Kensington.

I really have mixed feelngs about this hostel. There was so much potential there but it was never quite realized. The location is excellent, located near shopping, laundry mat, and restaurants. The facilities are pretty decent, if only they were kept clean. The state of the bathrooms was disgusting. The showers were not cleaned for days. I know this because... More

Thank you for taking the time to write this review--I am sorry your experience with us did not meet your expectations. Just so you know, our hostel is cleaned every single day by an outside professional cleaning company--this includes rooms, hallways, kitchen, shower areas and washrooms. In addition the cleaning staff work is checked regularly by hostel management. Also, we... More

Friends stayed at the Global Village Backpackers and I thought it would be fine since they loved that place. I came to Toronto and was planning on staying 2 weeks; I barely lasted one night. The first room they gave me didn't have a curtain rod or curtains covering the balcony windows. The second room looked better but looks can... More

The level of cleanliness in this place is frankly shocking for anyone that would accept money from customers for a place to sleep. Seriously shocking. This place is absolutely disgusting. There were dark brown and yellow stains all over the pillows, towels and sheets. The walls, doors, floors and even the chair were all really dirty. Like it had been... More

We booked a double room and found that it did not look anything like the pictures! It smelt bad, was dirty and facilities were old. I stayed for two nights and came home to find that my entire body was covered in bed bug bites... For so many bites and only 2 nights it questions how often they check for... More

We had read the previous reviews and were concerned about the negative comments however we decided to call Global Village Kensington and talked to Alan and Nick about this concern since Mr. Richard McCarron, the owner, was unavailable. First, our experience as travelers is global and we do not stay in hotels chains owned by multi-nationals and overseas in western... More

This hostel is a good option for people on a budget. The staff are friendly and helpful, also the location is great in the heart of Kensington with lots to see and do in the immediate vicinity.

Good location; that's it. Dirty. Wifi down for two days despite me telling them of the problem. People treat each other here like the conditions; pathetic.
