Don't visit this place. First of all the real name of this hostel is now kensinton college if you book under this name you will loose youe deposit. All of the double rooms are terrible and they stinks. The sealing is almost falling down. Nothing works at this hostel. At it is expensive.

Global Village Kensington is now known as Kensington College Backpackers and under new management. Nothing has changed and it has only gotten worse, much worse. Most rooms are ridden with bed-bugs and management is aware but will do nothing to correct the matter, knowing that most guests only stay a day or two. There are about a dozen long-term, unemployed,... More

This was the worst location I ever lived at, really. It already began when we arrived - nobody was there. Only a letter that told us where to pickup the key. So we had to take a taxi ride there and back. So there were two doors, but no single sign to tell us where to go. However, only one... More

I had the misfortune of staying here over the August bank holiday weekend as due to Caribana festival EVERYWHERE else in town was full. My room was dank and musty, and the aircon actually made the room warmer! Hardly any of the bathrooms were functional (either the toilet shower or taps didnt work in every single one I tried), and... Worst hostel experience so far! Just do not go here, and pick another hostel (HI-Toronto!). Not convinced? Read on.. I am a 23 year old female student traveling alone, I had booked a room here with a friend of mine for a month (she'd arrive a couple of days after). We chose this place because we were looking for a... More

I have stayed at this hostel many times over the years and in different rooms. I first chose to stay here because of the location. You have lots of 24 hours food places and coffee shops, and you are in the heart of Kensington market the place where doesn't matter who you are all is welcome. They have really nice... More

Everything is dirty in this hostel: rooms, beds, mattresses, pillows, sheets, floor, washrooms, toilets....... The staff wasn't smiling at all. Hopefully, we stayed one night as we didn't find another place to sleep in Toronto!!

Don't expect a friendly chat here! Staff treat you with disdain and it shows in the premises. Filthy floor coverings, mouldy showers, dirty basins, layers of dust and grime on the computer in the reception area, no proper seating for breakfast, holes in the walls, warped doors that can't be closed, the list goes on and on. However, the location... More

Dirty place, the stuff was grumpy, the rooms were really crumped and dark. The must have renovated it a million years ago. Me and me friend were about to leave half an hour before breakfast, and the stuff was not helpful enough to let us eat the included in price breakfest earlier. The bathrooms were ok.
