I stayed for 4 nights at a 6 Female Shared Bedroom. Location: awesome! Really good! Price: average. Staff: very nice! Ready to help, very cool people. Bedroom: a little too small for 6 people, I'd say. My bedroom had a private bathroom, also small but with space enough. I'm just not sure about the cleaning. There was nose dirt sticked... More

I don't mind bunking with college kids for the odd night, hosteling is a great way to travel solo. Inexpensive, and the bustle of people keeps traveling solo more fun than being in a hotel. It is like being in a commune however, so if you don't enjoy that shared feeling beware. The dorms were clean, the beds were fresh smelling.... More

My friend and I spent 4 nights at HI Toronto in August 2015. Overall the stay was vert pleasant. The hostel is in a good location and nicely decorared, there are many tours that guests can book from the front desk, there's a bar in the basemant with music and parties, there's a well equipped kitchen for the guests, the... I stayed for five nights at HI, which has a great location very close to King station and 10 minutes' walk from Union. I had initially only booked 2 nights and was going to move on somewhere, but I decided to stay 5 nights as the room was so comfortable! The bed was big with lots of pillows, there was... More

The Hostel has a strategic location. It is a couple of blocks from the subway station and within a walking distance of one of the most amazing attractions in Toronto, the CN Tower. The hostel was clean and the staff was very friendly and kind. Totally recommend it.

I stayed only for one night in 8 bed mixed dorm. It looked like they try their best to give their guests very good impression of hostels. Check in was smooth and quick, they have elevator so no problem with luggage. The bathroom is in the room and also in the corridor. They provide body wash, shampoo and conditioner and... More

I stayed for 4 nights at the end of a month on the road and found this place to be clean and comfortable. The best thing about it is the location, very convenient for the major tourist attractions and lots of bars and restaurants. Wifi dropped a bit in the communal areas but was fine in my room. The decor... More

HI Toronto is in a great spot, breakfast is great, staff were amazing and really helpful, WiFi worked really well and the bar was convenient. There were lockers in the room which is always nice. Overall it was a really good stay. Rooms are simple, but comfortable and clean. They supply body wash, soap, shampoo and conditioner for free (at... More

Very easy to find. I arrived from airport by train without problem. Close to the main attractions and very safe. Good for people like me who travel alone and love to make new friends. Nice staff and breakfast. One pub downstairs serves good food and you can enjoy nice music.

My first hostel experience and I think I was very lucky. I decided to throw myself into it and stayed two nights in a female 10 bed room. Someone must have taken the towels from my bed so reception gave me some when I asked. There were lockers in the room but also on other floors (bring a lock or... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
