This review is late as I realized I never finished it. Stayed at the Soho Metropolitan last August as we were in town for a late summer concert at the Molson Center. Location is central to a lot of what makes Toronto special (waterfront easily accessibly via walking, a cool pocket park, Youngs Street, decent walkable restaurants) so I give... More

Everyone here was friendly, Aaron was terrific. We came here last minute for our anniversary and they treated us like gold, the kind note and chocolate covered strawberries were a nice touch and much appreciated. Decent price considering it was last minute. Very clean and well organized. Concierge was very friendly as was all staff. Breakfast in the morning was... More

What a gem of a hotel. So beautiful, relaxing and very zen in the middle of a very busy area. You are right by the theatre district and right across from where the bluejays play. There is so much around the hotel in terms of sunny and shopping. It's a great location. The staff are very pleasant. The hotel has... More

You'd think that a 4-star hotel would offer more than an average AirBnB, but in this case, no. Absolutely not. Staff are oblivious, nonrespinsive, and out of touch; WiFi is intermittent; there's no hot water; lights and TV don't work; and the layout of the rooms really does not lend itself to any utility. It seemed that everything about soho... More

I'll be as brief as I can. Had to call a couple times before arriving and staff were very helpful. Broke a wine glass in our room and room service was up in 5 min to vacuum it up. Location is great, but it's a couple blocks to a subway station. Room service menu is fairly expensive, but this is... More

We stayed in the penthouse suite for a full weekend for a bachelor/bachelorette party. Overall, the place is gorgeous. A bathing suit dryer in the bathroom near the hot tub is a nice touch. However, the furniture is a bit banged up, the TVs are poor quality, the wifi was flakey, and the front desk/security staff was a little rude.

My husband and I came to Toronto for the weekend and stayed at this lovely boutique hotel! The staff were absolutely amazing! From front desk staff to outstanding housekeeping service. I couldn't have asked for more! The room was spotless and the attention from turndown service was amazing for ex., placing a glass and water bottle by the bedside, asking... More

We stayed a couple of days at the SoHO for our staycation downtown. It was a little off the beaten path but also only a couple of blocks walk takes you to the underground PATH system and from there all over downtown. The rooms were very nice, we had no issues with cleanliness or service. It was pretty quiet in... More

Downtown for one night, dinner and a movie. It was nice to get a welcome back when checking into the Soho just after Christmas. The staff is very friendly. I had a room on the fourth floor, two or three away from my first visit. It was again very comfortable with a nice bed and furnishings. Lots of space, clean... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
