Very cool, stark, design boutique hotel in the heart of Fashion District in Toronto meaning that you're 5/10 mins walk from Rogers / CN Tower and 5 mins from the heart of shopping on Queen Street West. A 10 / 15 minute slow walk gets you over to The Eaton Centre and the financial district. This is a small hotel,... More

I spend half my time working in Toronto and have stayed in many different hotels but finally settled for the Templar. It is the only hotel that has a human feel to it, the staff is young and vibrant and so helpful with everything! The small scale of it makes it feel like home and the rooms are all unique... More

I was a guest at the Templar Hotel last weekend. My room was spacious, modern, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Extremely friendly staff, and we met the owner in the lounge, he made us feel at home and welcome, provided us with advise for things to see and do in the area. I will be staying there again... Cool and stylish hotel and friendly staff too. Close to just about everything downtown which was definitely great! I also got a chance to speak with a manager and she was excited to talk about all the new changes happening at the hotel. I will be back for sure!

Very close to downtown, friendly staff and great rooms. Stayed only one night as very la minute booking. Easy walk to King for the theaters, restaurants or even the Rogers Center for sporting events. Would use again & recommend.

I actually enjoyed my stay at this hotel but the day after I left I was charged a fee for having smoked in the room - which I definitely didn't do. No problem, I thought, call the manager and get this straightened out. Must have been a mistake, maybe wrong room. I called on a Saturday morning, receptionist said they... More

Adam, Thanks again for staying at the hotel and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We do not take it lightly when we charge a guest for smoking in the room - it very rarely happens and we take great care not to charge a guest for something they did not do. We take absolutely no pleasure in charging you... More

First off, WOW! This hotel is absolutely incredible! The staff were so friendly, helpful and kind. They really make sure your stay is amazing. The location is unbeatable. It's close to tons of the best restaurants in Toronto and there's no shortage of things to do. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have an amazing time.

I stayed here for four nights while attending a conference. This was a relatively last minute booking for me (made within 3 weeks of the event when normally I'd make arrangements months in advance), so I was looking for a place within walking distance of the convention center for a reasonable price. The Templar is within 15 minutes of the... More

I seek out small boutique hotels when I travel and was really looking forward to our stay last year at the templar (May 2014), I thought I had found a promising gem. I loved how the hotel is unmarked...we were off to a great beginning. Then, not a single thing went well over the following 14 hours. It ended up... More

I'm very sorry to hear that your stay was terrible one year ago. I would love to have you back to the hotel for free to see what has taken place since then but unfortunately, it would be very difficult for us to give a free room night to everyone who had a bad experience under the previous administration. I... More

This Hotel is right downtown between King and Queen in the entertainment district. Like many botique hotels the design trumps practicality all too often (Now where did they hide the toilet paper? Where are the light switches?). But the new management is working hard to fix the errors of the past. Note that it is not very well signed so... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
