I read with interest the comments from "frequent visitor to Toronto" and I must say that my experience was completely the opposite even though we encountered many of the same things. For example, yes, the hotel did not have large and obvious signage - the only sign was a marble one that you can see only when you walk up... More

I travel to Toronto fairly frequently with work. Unfortunately, my usual hotel was booked and all others in the surrounding area were either booked or were asking a ridiculous amount per night. I was hesitant booking my stay at the Templar. I had never heard of it, nor was I familiar with it's location. In addition, the website was "lacking".... More

We live in Toronto and decided to celebrate our anniversary this year by spending the night at a swanky and "different" hotel--we decided on the Templar because we were intrigued by its design and by good things we'd heard about its restaurant. Overall, the Templar is excellent. It's a new hotel and still has a few growing pains to iron... More

Spent the weekend at the Templar and felt like we had our own mini mansion in the middle of the city versus staying at a hotel. As they had explained to us, the suite is like our bedroom, the lounge is like our living room and you get to hang out in the kitchen where they make anything you want... More

I have been travelling throughout North America on and off for the past 15 years. I have never felt compelled to write a review before but my stay at Templar has re-energized my faith in customer service in Canada. The selection for Templar was quite unexpected and I was not quite sure what to expect. Mostly I thought it would... More

I had 3 clients staying at the Templar who were raving about the property. The hotel is wonderfully designed with some very quirky pieces of art. Minimalistic that feels like home. We all believe that the staff, under the guidance of manager Andrew van Buskirk, are not allowed to say "no" to guests and do everything possible to make things... More

We enjoyed the full Templar experience including a gorgeous room (amazing upgrade to a King Loft Suite on the top floor - wow!) cocktails in the lobby bar and then a fabulous dinner in Monk Kitchen. Clearly this is the most beautifully designed hotel in Toronto. Even the "basic" rooms are gorgeous. Apparently some of the views aren't great, but... More

Staff were very professional and went out of their way to provide assistance. The location is convenient to the Roger's Centre. It is a bit hard to find as there is no signage, but once you are there it is a nice hotel.

Life is in the details and at this hotel there are so many amazing details, for the first time in a very long time I found myself actually paying attention to my stay. I travel so much and I can tell you that other top ranked hotels do not put in 10% of the effort that this place did. The... More

By contrast with a previous reviewer, I felt that Templar, for all of its aspiration to modern design,, fails precisely in the details. I truly appreciate modern, minimalist design, but design should enhance, not detract from human comfort. While there will be an Apple TV and iPad in your room, there won't be a telephone, water glass, or a table... More
