My parents stayed here for a few days while visiting toronto for my graduation at UofT. They stayed in the queen room, it was about 80 or 90 $, which is an excellent price for downtown toronto. It was comfortable and we couldn't really ask for more at that price. The breakfast wasn't much though just some coffee and biscuits,... More

Me and my fiance had a wonderful stay at the Castlegate Inn. We weren't looking for anything fancy or expensive, and when we stumbled on the Castlegate Inn website, we decided to give it a try. We had a four night stay, and we were located on the second floor. The room was very cozy, we had a very comfy... More

This place does not qualify to be a 'bed and breakfast' in any way. It is a cheap hotel room with an awful breakfast consisting of fatty muffins and coffee/tea/bottled orange juice. The attendants are not helpful and I find it strange that it does not show the name of the place at the door. It is just a house,... More

The Castlegate Inn is truly three Victorian Homes. My wife described our room as functional. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. The only place we stayed in Ontario with both a fridge and a microwave. Note that daily housekeeping is extra $20/day. The reception is operated with only limited hours but there is a phone number you can call. Great... More

We stayed at the Castlegate Inn for 3 days and had a wonderful stay. The location was fantastic so I am not sure why people complain. For $68.99 we had a queen room with breakfast and was near everywhere we wanted to go. I would definately come back to the Castlegate Inn for my next Toronto visit More

I got in a place with a stinking carpet and painting materials at the entrance. On the internet was nothing specified that there was no breakfast facilities. I never expected to pay full fare for a Bed and Breakfast with no breakfast (What is the meaning of the second “B” on B&B??). Secondly, nobody told me that works were in... More

There was a rat in my room! Add to this, very basic, cold, soulless room, so when you read Bed and Breakfast, don’t think quaint English cottage, think downtown and rundown house for transients such as men getting divorced, immigrants looking for a place or university students. My room was on the front street, non-stop noise of cars and terrace... More

The only good thing about this B&B is location and they know it. I stayed there for 3 weeks and only because I was asked to pre-pay. I booked a single room and specifically asked for photos of the room. They emailed me their brochure showing relatively nice rooms but nothing even closer to the room that I was offered... More

...and I suppose, for almost the centre of downtown Toronto, the price I paid ($350 per week - about £215 at the time) it was okay. BUT.... the room was very small, not very clean or pleasant, had no coffee-making facilities (not even a kettle - though there was a fridge and a microwave), had no crockery or cutlery at... More

Only stay if you are almost deaf and blind. We didn't sleep a wink all night because of the noise on Spadina and the noise in the room above. The patron above wasn't a noisy individual, but the creak of the floor was like chalk grating on the board, the sound of him going to the toilet was like a... More
