Last month I again stayed at the wonderful Downtown Home Inn, just off Church St in Toronto. I love staying here, it is in a great location for shopping, eating and travelling around Toronto. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, the kitchen-living room is an excellent space for meeting other guests, especally over breakfast. On this trip the lovely Kerem... More

This was my second visit this year and I had great experiences on both occasions. The owners/staff are friendly and helpful. The Inn is located just steps from the heart of Church street which is flooded with shops, restaurants and bars. The room I was in, on the second floor, was clean, and spacious. My room faced south with a... More

I was in Toronto for busines and decided to book a B&B instead of a hotel. This B&B is a nice old building. The rooms and shower are basic and clean. It has a large living room on the ground floor where you can have breakfast. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is near the subway, you can... More

I stayed here in both May and June. The first time was during the week and the second was on the weekend. Both times, I had a quiet stay. It's very homey and because it is an old home, noise travels, but I still did not hear a lot. The self-serve breakfast is wonderful and the host is friendly. It... More

This was such a wonderful everything! We stayed in the Acacia which was on the main floor towards the back, close by the kitchen. The bathrooms are shared, one of the second and third floor. Breakfast consisted of tasty and healthy cereal, toast with a variety of add-ons, eggs, fruit, yogurt etc which feels cozy like home, Also management pops... More

My wife and I spent a wonderful night in Toronto staying here. We arrived later than expected, and Kerem left instructions for us. We stayed in the Violet room and enjoyed some time on the quiet, cozy balcony. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the common area was very welcoming with access to coffee and tea at any time.... Very well located and secure. Casual living in a very well maintained B&B. After many stays in Toronto at corporate hotels, I decided to try a B&B. I am so glad I did! This place was a fantastic introduction to B&B living. Bright, clean rooms with shared bath facilities, just like home. So close to Toronto’s centre and its many... More

My husband and I stayed in the Downtown Home Inn over a long weekend, Friday through Monday. We were looking for a place near the center of the gay area, and the location seemed perfect. Little did we know what a gem this place really is. It's on an alley just off the main drag so things are relatively quiet,... More

This was by far the best place we stayed in Toronto. We are a young Irish couple who were looking for somewhere clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced, and boy, this did not disappoint. The host, Unal, is extremely friendly and helpful - and couldn't do enough for us - even went out of his way to find a spare US... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
