The lobby was nice and I definitely made the mistake of judging a book by its cover. Check in was easy and quick. Came to the dated door with the room number looking like it was made in a paint it yourself pottery center. My initial reaction to this room was 'wtf did I pay for?' I was not impressed... more

I was booked into the Metropolitan Hotel for a work trip and stayed in a room on the 23rd floor in October. The reception area is spacious and the staff courteous but they were unable to assist in checking me in earlier than the stated time of 3pm, and were adamant no room would be available until the stated time.... more

What can we say about the Metropolitan? First and foremost, this place is dirty and seriously needs to be refurbished. In fact, the receptionist informed us that the hotel hadn't been updated for 10 years!!! The first room we were allocated was simply awful, however after a little complaining and an almost free upgrade we moved to a newly decorated... more

Either the Metropolitan took the large majority of negative comments here to heart and improved their operation real fast or most people on here misidentified the hotel. I have nothing but good things to say about them in (almost) every respect. Granted the rooms could use a bit of a touch up, but they were still clean, attractive, roomy enough... more

This hotel is totally shabby and dated. The entry way is fine but that is where it ends. The hallways are dingy, smelly and have ceiling tiles missing. As far as the room I can understand a tiny room in a large city like this as that is the norm but this was just butt ugly. Worn ikea-esque furniture, cheap... more

Sept.2/09 my family member and I went to Toronto to see The Sound of Music. I had researched hotels online. Pictures of the rooms and hotel amenities were important. We chose the Metropolitan Hotel Downtown Toronto. The main lobby was presentable. The corridors looked clean, the staff very helpful. We opened the door to room 1908 and our first reaction was... more

We arrived at the hotel to find out we had to pay $21 a day for parking, which was not something we had planned or had known about. We went up to our room and it was soooo small. A queen bed, hard, with flowers on everything, the bed spread, curtains pillows, everything,. There was no mini fridge that they... more

Made the trek up to Toronto for the Red Sox series and stayed August 18-21. Got a great rate of approximately 80 USD a night through easyclicktravel.com. Upon our arrival the valet and bell boy greated my fiance and I with attentive service. I will say the only gimmick run by this hotel is their parking. Not a big deal... more

My partner and I recently stayed at the Metropolitan for a week. The best thing about the hotel was the location. It is close to everything and is in an area that is very safe to walk around at night. The worst thing was the breakfast which was not very nice. The first morning no one greeted us so we... more

This hotel was perfect for a stay in 1998. The menu doesn't allow me to reflect accurate date. The hotel has all the facilities that you'd expect from a 4*. One particular member of staff, said in a surly and aggressive tone that "newspapers were for guest" only. Obviously the white guest who were reading thw newspapers, weren't met with... more
