A Little dusting goes a long way. we stayed in this for one night and had an "upgraded" room. While it was spacious it was dirty and old. the carpet should have been replaced years ago and didnt seem as though it had been Vacuumed in months. the window sills and door frames had a thick coating of dust on... Stayed for a long weekend, 3 nights. The hostess was nice and the place looked clean outside of the rooms. We had a small room on the 2nd floor and a tiny bathroom. Some recepticals in the room didn't work. The carpet was dirty and needs replacing in the rooms. The decor was very old fashioned. We stayed 3 nights... More

The room was nice and clean. The room's air-conditioning wasn't working too well, but still nice. The breakfast came with white bread, peanut butter and jam, no fruit or yogurt and there was eggs and a wiener that they called a "sausage" no bacon or ham. The coffee was really good and the orange juice good; otherwise, the place was... More

Stayed for almost a week... Dec 2013... Wifi reception intermittent, decor dated, freezing cold, breakfast hours inconvenient (like after we left every day) I will not be back... ever.... Convenient location, but that's about the only positive..

We were very disappointed in the Jarvis House. I have stayed at many B&Bs that were 'old and quaint', this one is just old and run down. The rooms were decently clean but very musty and dingy feeling. Room 11 on the top floor had one window that was so small and the bottom half of it has an old... More

It was my first stay in this B&B lodging. All I expected was a place to sleep, near to all sights of interests and public transportation convenient (bus, streetcar and subway) The hostess received me with a warm welcome and facilitated me the informations I needed. The breakfast was good and just enough to get through the next meal.

We stayed for the first time in Toronto at the Jarvis House. Because it was a holiday weekend, all of the name-brand hotels were booked (or 400$ per night). Your experience will depend on your expectations and whether or not you plan to stay in your room all day or get out and see Toronto. We arrived just after check-in... More

One of my worst experience ever. The owner should have the permit revoked. Don't believe the glowing descriptions on the website nor the pictures you see on line. Place looks dilapidated from the outside, not welcoming at all. Our taxi driver did not know where the place was and sort of frowned when he let us out..looking at the facade... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
