Found this on a website and I am very pleased with the cleanliness the offer for breakfast food choices and location. Owners accessible and very responsive to needs. Will recommend and use again. Close to Ryerson University, grocery store and good food choices near by Shared bathroom not an issue as washrooms on other floors.

Great location a short walk from the subway -- an easy ride to TIFF. Very affordable, with a better-than-average Continental breakfast in the morning. Only drawback is the shared bathroom on a separate floor, but worth the inconvenience considering the cost and location. On-street construction was going on while we were there -- the area should be even nicer once... More

McGill Inn was not exactly what I had been expecting. The fact that it calls itself a B&B is totally misleading. Guests are completely on their own here. I was not welcomed by the owner when I arrived. No, the owner was apparently away, a fact I would have liked to be told about before I arrived, and in his... More

This was the perfect spot for us, on a quiet street so close to Church Street and downtown. Ergin was the perfect host, greeted us at the door and showed us around. The room was perfectly clean with the option of two shared bathrooms for our convenience. The bed was super comfortable and a great continental breakfast awaited us downstairs... More

Cool place, cozy and Bryan was real helpful and nice. About a 10 minute walk from the College Street Subway station. Lots of food to eat in the refrigerator. The room was big and clean (Aqua Room) and the bathroom was one level down the stairs. Located on a nice, safe location.

We recently stayed at the McGill Inn bed and breakfast, it is well located to all of the Toronto attractions such as the CN Tower, water front and of course the Church street village. The staff were very friendly and helpful We stayed in the White room but will probably try the grey or Aqua room on our next visit... More

McGill Inn B&B is just of Church St and just South of College. Rooms have a lovely cosy feel and lovely decor to match the style of the house. The B&B room rates are very reasonable. Breakfast, in the quaint basement kitchen, is self serve but offers the best range of breads, bagels, pasteries, fruit, yogut, cereal, juice, coffee and different... More

This place is super! There is a lot to eat in the self served breakfast (cereals, bagels, bread and jam, fresh fruits, pastries) . It's well situated (close to the Eaton Center). It's super clean and the owner is very nice and helpful! Great price and nice rooms as well! I was in the green room and I really enjoyed... More

I spent a little over a week at this out-of-the-way bed and breakfast. Even though it is off the beaten path, it is located within one block of the trolley, and two blocks of the subway. Easy walking distance. My host was very friendly, and the accommodations good. This Inn is of the European style in that the rooms are... More

Quiet and comfortable, good value for Toronto, and in a good location. Breakfast is not made-to-order B&B style, but serve yourself, although a cut above the usual highway hotel continental breakfast. WiFi throughout is a plus. Reasonable parking in a garage a couple of blocks away. Our room (ask for it, not listed on the website) was the "Grey Room"... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
