We like to explore on foot so were pleased to be able to walk to galleries, shops, restaurants, museums and the new opera house. We arrived early on the first day and expected to just park luggage but were immediately offered our room which was ready for us. Conveniences such as local calls and good internet access were provided at... more

My partner and I enjoyed a couple of days at this central B&B and appreciated the simplicity and warmth of this unpretentiousness place. We wanted a place that was not a typical antiseptic hotel yet was within walking distance to the opera, art gallery, museum, etc. House on McGill was perfect. A small place on a residential street with numerous... more

Easy to find on arrival to downtown Toronto. Central location (which we did not realise at time of booking) which made access to subway and city very easy. Lovely tree lined street. Very cute back yard. Dave provided us with great instructions to get there, to get to our workplace and regarding travelling around Toronto. Yellow and white rooms lovely... more

We love this place. It is clean and quiet in a big city. We have stayed three times and each one is relaxing. The owner is always available if needed yet it feels like we are the only ones there. It is an old building but it is charming. It is nice to come back to a quiet place after... more

Although only 2 blocks south/east of my own apartment in Yorkville, my 1 week stay in Daves McGill BB was great. I stayed in the 'yellow' room and it has a nice back deck. If your in town and looking for a great BB I say give Dave a call. The house is very nice and the breakfast 'plenty' for... more

Having to come to Toronto regularly I've been a guest of House on McGill for 8 years. We call it 'our city home' . A comfortable homey place to stay. Location perfect, comfortable bedrooms and an opportunity to meet people from all over the world over breakfast. more

Great location!!! Really GREAT location! The owner is the nicest guy on the planet and he's environmentally conscious. He is knowledgeable about the city, so you can ask him almost anything. Since I have discovered this place, 2 years ago, I always stay at the House on McGill. The breakfast is generous and fresh and good, the rooms are clean.... more

Most of the criticisms I had for this place had to do with the state of the building so I cannot be too harsh. The owner was very pleasant and the location was very handy if you were keen on the gay area. However there were a few shortcomings: the internet NEVER worked, either wireless or the public one. It... more

Convenient location, friendly owner, attractive rooms...but we didn't realize that rooms on some floors have no nearby bathroom...you have to go upstairs or downstairs one level to the bathroom. Not convenient if you have to get up at night! $115 total for a double room with no private bath is no bargain, even in Toronto. Also beware of the parking... more
