Had a great one night stay at the historic Royal York last month while attending a concert at the Air Canada Centre, a very easy walk from hotel. Front desk service was courteous and friendly, and the look of the lobby is beautiful. The Library Bar offers a very cool dim lit setting and had a lounge singer on Saturday... More

The newly renovated rooms in the hotel are great! For the most part...There is a corner that has the "NEW RENO" smell...not sure what but it is very strong and hard to live with...not possible to get rid of. Maybe the glue or new carpet smell? Anyhow if you receive the "free upgrade" check it out..it is a 500 sq... More

This is the hotel I book whenever traveling to Toronto. The property is an historic building and kept very well. There is access from the hotel to the underground mall and mass transportation. Lots of very good restaurants within walking distance and if you are there for pleasure there there are several attractions also within walking distance, including the Rogers... More

The Fairmont Royal York (just "Royal York" to the taxi driver) is a great place to stay in downtown Toronto - especially for business. It is directly across the street from the equally impressive Union Station and because of this, it is VERY easy to get to from the Toronto Airport (YYZ). There is a train that gets you from... More

Stayed at the Fairmont as it was close to the Air Canada Centre and we were attending a concert. It was my first stay and definitely won't be my last. Every staff member greeted us and were friendly and courteous. Our early check in was quick and easy. The room was large and immaculate. Comfortable beds and 2 bathrooms! We... More

I travel extensively and I have had the pleasure to stay at all the Fairmont hotels in B.C. and ONT. I find the Fairmont royal to be my favorite of the Fairmont chain. however there is no better experience like staying at a Fairmont Hotel. Milton Croghan North Bay Ont.

We upgraded to the renovated room only to find the tv console handle was hanging by one screw, the 2 usb power ports were not connected and were unable to charge our mobile phones and tablets, the bathroom door had paint that was cracked and peeling, the shower door was ill fitting, leaked water when in use, there was so... We were so excited about staying at the Royal York - it has always conjured up thoughts of royalty and extravagance. We valet parked but there was only one man on duty so we took our own luggage out of the car and then had to wait to give over our key. Keep in mind it's $53.00 per day. Now... More

This hotel is great. The service is fantastic. By our second day there the concierge and valets remembered who we were! We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant every morning. The food was superb. Also, you cannot beat the location of this hotel. Short walk to many great sites and restaurants. Highly recommend staying here if possible.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
