I booked a room at the Royal York hotel in Toronto as a dramatic finish to a wonderful vacation. At first I was excited by the lavish and elegant lobby. To my disappointment however, nothing else lived up to my expectations. The room we were shown to was tiny. The wallpaper in the room was water damaged and peeling in... More

This grand old lady is well worth a stay or even visit if your in Toronto. I have now stayed twice and the service and quality has been of a high standard each time. Rooms and bed linens clean and tidy. The hotel is directly opposite Union Station - handy if you arrive by train, and the airport shuttle bus... More

I love old hotels with lots of history, and this one did not disappoint in that regard. Rugs in the common areas were plush, lots of brass and/or gilded materials, big heavy wooden doors, etc. The guest rooms did not have quite the same feel - they seemed more dated than stately. Service at the front desk was impeccably polite... More

The Fairmont Royal York is a grand hotel. Given the cost, it's not the kind of hotel we usually choose. But sometime you just have to pamper yourself. And we did, but only for one night. Three of us arrived by train at Union Station and walked across the street to the Royal York. Quick and easy. We were impressed... More

We stayed at this hotel in Toronto so we could attend a concert at the Sound Academy. Overall, it was a very nice hotel. A very fancy lobby, that presented an upscale attitude. Check-in went smoothly, and the man who helped us (his name escapes me), was also very friendly. Our room was again very nice and simple. Nothing above... More

This hotel does seem to be the centre of Toronto, with all the shuttles, walkways and main business areas of Toronto right there. I'm not sure how I feel about the slightly dated look and feel of the place, I guess it has some historical value, but it seems a bit tired from some angles. I was dissapointed how many... More

We loved our room, it was clean and spacious. The dinning I felt could have been better, not that much variety, mostly pub style, and very expensive for what you got. More

We flew into Billy Bishop downtown airport, which had a free shuttle directly to the Royal York. Very convenient. The hotel is historic, grand and lots of options for food, drink, etc. Pricey hotel for small rooms if you don't have a deal of some kind, though. (We did). More
