The Lord Elgin is very comfortable - nice sized rooms, very pleasant staff, a restaurant and Starbucks right in the hotel. The exercise room and pool were a bit of a disappointment but the location of the hotel and its ambiance more than made up for it! more

Booked using the hotel website. While the rate was good - little else about the hotel really stood out and the room had some problems: First the room: 1. The room had a broken ethernet cable plug and there was no wi-fi 2. a woman must have designed the bathroom counter - as the ledge above the toilet seat stuck... more

This is one of my favorite hotels. It’s a beautiful building, good friendly staff and the rooms are bright and spacious (with a hint of orange blossom). The beds are very comfortable. The hotel is walking distance from all the interesting places in Ottawa. There is really nothing bad I can say about the Lord Elgin and I would love... more

I found myself back in Ottawa for business last month and decided to stay at the Lord Elgin again after a great visit 3 years ago. I'm happy to say that the hotel is better than I remembered and my stay was once again fantastic. One noticeable change was the new restaurant menu. I remember being unimpressed with the menu... more

This hotel can easily be compared to the Fairmont Chateau Laurier. It's historic, in a convenient location, and has room service. There is a Starbucks on the main floor. Our non-smoking room had a smell of smoke. Two queen beds. Stucco ceiling looked a bit ugly, but the room is tastefully decorated. Only one window; it opens at the bottom.... more

I recently stayed at the Lord Elgin Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay! From the minute I walked through the front door, the service was impeccable. From the professional and friendly bellmen to the maids who were always smiling. Checking in was a breeze even though there were a number of people checking in at the time. The front desk... more

I travelled to this hotel recently with colleagues and received superior service, was treated like a VIP at all times. The staff truly make the difference here. The staff make you feel as though you are on vacation and the rooms are gorgeous with natural light and very comfortable bedding. Being in the downtown core was wonderful as I was... more

High expectations. Small room, with a very noisy air handling system. Although clean, the hotel appeared as old as it is. Bath towels were small, bathroom had basic conditioner and soap bars. No extras such as shoe shine kit etc. more

Pros -the hotel is a good location within walking distance restaurants, parliament and the Rideau Center -cabs are always parked outside the hotel -the hotel has a Starbucks which delivers coffee straight to your room -great fitness center with cardio machines and free weights -plenty of elevators Cons -contrary to the hotel description, there is NO wireless internet -you can... more

I travel to Ottawa several times a year on business and usually stay at the Sheraton. This time I thought "Try the Lord Elgin." I learned my lesson and will not be going back!! As other reviews have said, the location is good and the hotel LOOKS nice, but it's overrated and overpriced. The staff at the front desk were... more
