We had a short stay here on a big road trip taking in Quebec Ontario and NE USA. The family suite was wonderful for our family of 4, super comfortable with the edge of luxury that was greatly appreciated after so many hours on the road. Luxurious, yet homely and very welcoming,it is very close for a stroll into the... More

I recently spent two nights at this splendid B&B. My friend and I had come for theatre and the B&B was perfectly located. We parked the car and left it there while we walked along the lovely streets past gardens, historical homes. The room itself was super with AC, a huge kingsize bed and tasteful period furniture. Enjoyed the breakfasts... More

Yes, being able to just park your car and enjoy our town is a plus. Glad you enjoyed your room. We know the bed is faboulous. We have guests that sleep in some mornings as it is so peaceful and such a comfortable bed. That is what a B&B is all about. Mind you, the great conversations in the morning... More

For a short stay at Niagara-on-the Lake, Schoolmaster's House B&B is perfect: a convenient location within walking distance along pleasant tree-lined streets to the Shaw Festival theatres; an Elizabethan garden with pond and gurgling stream; comfortable rooms opulently furnished with period furniture; genial hosts; imaginative breakfasts; and historical significance. A small frig is available to chill your Niagara white, air... More

We stayed at Schoolmaster's House for five nights. We are a family of four - two adults and two kids 15,17. Having never experienced a bed and breakfast we were not sure what to expect. On arriving at the house we were welcomed by our hostess Dianne and shown to our room. A fabulous arrangement with a room for us... More

We miss you already. You were like family when you left. That is what is so terrific about staying at a B&B. Thanks for the excellent review. We do hope you will be back. August is such a great time to spend in the "garden". Alan has now been educated to say "garden". I must thank you for that as... More

The Schoolmaster's House Bed and Breakfast offered a great get away in the picturesque town of Niagra-on-the-Lake. My husband and I enjoyed a large comfortable bed, a quiet air conditioned room, and tasty and varied breakfast fare. The three of us, 2 US and 1 Canadian came to Niagara on the Lake for our annual girlfriend weekend. The breakfasts were beautifully presented, plentiful and delicious. Being an American I was very curious about 'Canadian' Cuisine, our hostess and host personalized the breakfast and offered butter tarts to introduce me to authentic Canadian Cuisine. They went the extra... More

This historic house is conveniently located. There is a lovely garden for private, quiet relaxation. The hosts, Diane and Alan, were courteous, informative, and attentive. Breakfast was a wonderful experience with the hosts serving several courses elegantly and with attention to personal preferences. It was nice to share a meal and talk with the other guests.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to The Schoolmaster's House, circa 1818. As former tutoring home for Empire Loyalist families in the 1880's, we are ideally situated at the heart of Niagara on the Lake Wine country. Just a short stroll from the theaters, shops and fine dining of Canada's prettiest Town. Our B&B has been exquisitely and faithfully restored, one of the early nineteenth century Niagara on the Lake Bed and Breakfasts. This is the ideal home away from home from which to begin and to finish your day. Enchanting bed accommodations ensure you'll wake well rested and feeling refreshed prior to venturing forth to walk, hike, bike or drive our scenic parkways, vineyards, tree-lined boulevards and lake front parks. Alan and Diane are the new proud owners of this heritage Ontario home. They invite you to explore their Niagara on the Lake B&B and to spend time with them during the upcoming theater season. Alan works at a local winery and will let you know about the local wine industry. Diane will delight you with a gourmet breakfast. This Historic Niagara on the Lake bed and breakfast contributes to the wonderful character and unique flavour in the Old Town. ... more   less
