The three of us, 2 US and 1 Canadian came to Niagara on the Lake for our annual girlfriend weekend. The breakfasts were beautifully presented, plentiful and delicious. Being an American I was very curious about 'Canadian' Cuisine, our hostess and host personalized the breakfast and offered butter tarts to introduce me to authentic Canadian Cuisine. They went the extra... More

You are not suppose to know who is making a review of your B&B but that was such a great time we had, we would certainly know who is making this excellent review. We did enjoy the three of you and we do hope you will return. We will leave it at "Canadian Cuisine" and keep all those who are... More

This historic house is conveniently located. There is a lovely garden for private, quiet relaxation. The hosts, Diane and Alan, were courteous, informative, and attentive. Breakfast was a wonderful experience with the hosts serving several courses elegantly and with attention to personal preferences. It was nice to share a meal and talk with the other guests.

My friend and I had a wonderful relaxing two days in NOTL. The B & B had charming and accommodating hosts, excellent breakfasts, beautiful relaxing gardens and charming rooms. Alan and Diane were most helpful in recommending restaurants, plays and tours. We will absolutely book again. Hilary and Pam

My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights and had a wonderful time. We have made NOTL an annual get together when I am back south for holidays. We found that Schoolmaster's House is within an easy walk to all of the theatres and restaurants and shops, but far enough away to escape the bustle. We enjoyed the quiet gardens... More

We stayed at this B&B from July 11-14 and had a wonderful time. The B&B is very conveniently located on Mississauga Street, just 3 blocks from Queen Street (the main street in the historic district of Niagara on the Lake). The hosts, Alan and Diane, are very good natured and welcoming. They also have a tiny dog, Parker, who is... More

My mother and I recently stayed at the Schoolmaster's House at NOTL to take in some plays, shop and tour wineries. Diane and Alan were charming hosts providing delicious breakfasts and lots of good suggestions on what to see and where to eat. The house is very quaint with lovely rooms including fireplaces and beautiful landscaped gardens and grounds. It... More

We stayed the weekend of June 27-29, 2014. Schoolmaster's House is a lovely home, built in 1818 with all the original floors, fireplaces, and hardware. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and include a koi pond. Alan and Diane were great hosts with lots of information on what to do and where to eat during our stay. The breakfasts they served... This bed and breakfast was truly excellent. We were there only a few days, but we will return. The room was perfect and the breakfast was top notch. The owners went out of their way to welcome you not only to their home, but to the town. They were so helpful, by the end of the first day, I felt... More

My husband and I stayed at Schoolmaster June 20 & 21. Diane and Alan could not have been more gracious. We were warmly welcomed to the B&B, shown our room, where to store our bikes, given suggestions for wine tours and dinner reservations booked for us. We were in the Garden Room which was perfect. Breakfasts were very good and... More

What great host's we had with Alan/Diane and their vast knowledge about the area. We visited many vineries nearby and of course the Falls. The. Falls are just a short drive from Schoolmasters. So loved our stay and will return soon for more.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to The Schoolmaster's House, circa 1818. As former tutoring home for Empire Loyalist families in the 1880's, we are ideally situated at the heart of Niagara on the Lake Wine country. Just a short stroll from the theaters, shops and fine dining of Canada's prettiest Town. Our B&B has been exquisitely and faithfully restored, one of the early nineteenth century Niagara on the Lake Bed and Breakfasts. This is the ideal home away from home from which to begin and to finish your day. Enchanting bed accommodations ensure you'll wake well rested and feeling refreshed prior to venturing forth to walk, hike, bike or drive our scenic parkways, vineyards, tree-lined boulevards and lake front parks. Alan and Diane are the new proud owners of this heritage Ontario home. They invite you to explore their Niagara on the Lake B&B and to spend time with them during the upcoming theater season. Alan works at a local winery and will let you know about the local wine industry. Diane will delight you with a gourmet breakfast. This Historic Niagara on the Lake bed and breakfast contributes to the wonderful character and unique flavour in the Old Town. ... more   less
