Having been to Niagara-on-the-lake in the past and discovered lovely, historic, and quaint inns, we had expected a similar experience at the Gate House noting the hotels description as "sophisticated simplicity" and the similar price. Our room did not have towels, and it did not provide the typical complimentary soaps and shampoos in the washroom. There was barely any furniture in the room, the fixtures were rusted and outdated. The hotel is in dire need of renovations. We paid over $300 per night for a room that resembled a run-down highway motel. At that price,... more

This was our first trip to NOTL and we were pleasantly surprised to find everything so beautiful! Flowers everywhere-gorgeous gardens, quaint shops,everything within walking distance to our hotel Gate House. The hotel is small with only 10 rooms,but very clean and pleasant.
