The sound of rippling waters, fish jumping in the pond (I kid you not), the haunting complaint of the wind chimes, an old fashion screen door, so many little details that speak eloquently to the quality of life that was the standard fare of the well to do in Victorian times. If you need to — or choose to —... more

This bed and breakfast is in the perfect place for anyone coming to visit historic Kingston, or Queen's University. I come to Kingston every week and always stay here. The rooms are beautifully decorated and scrupulously clean; the breakfast is always delicious; and the hosts kind and extremely accommodating. There is tea in the afternoon, early morning coffee, newspapers, and... more

I was super excited about this bed and breakfast for my annual girls getaway. Initially our intent had been to arrive at 3 but we were delayed and didn't arrive until 7. I had called home to ask my husband to call the inn to advise we would be late. This was shortly after 3. When he called he received... more

We stayed one night at the Secret Garden Inn on our last day of our holiday in Canada. We were warmly welcomed, but found it very peculiar that we were asked to pay upfront, before even as much as seeing the room. The room was nice, a bit small, but nicely appointed an with a comfortable four-poster bed. Breakfast was... more

I've stayed in Kingston over a dozen times over the last 3 years, for both business and pleasure, and make it a practice to stay at the Secret Garden. Better than the big hotels from an accomodation, service, meal and friendliness perspective. The house/mansion is filled with antiques, stained glass and leaded windows, special and personal touches by the owner... more

This stately mansion is just like walking back in time. The decor is furnished in exquisite 1800 century antiques. Rooms are very clean, comfortable and spacious. It is within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, Univeristy and waterfront. Breakfasts are superb, very tasty, attractive and plentiful. The service is outstanding. The Innkeepers are friendly, helpful, gracious in accommodating you and... more

Great location only easy walk from waterfront, market and downtown. First-class but not too big breakfast at 8:30 or 9:30. Provides parking. Internet use. Arrived late at 10:40 pm in rainstorm and innkeeper directed me to nice pub/restaurant only 3 blocks away. Service? Try this. I lost glasses and had given up. Who do I see at airport? Innkeeper who... more

Nice rooms and delicious breakfast - although a few minor caveats ....we were told after check in at what time precisely breakfast would be served at - anywhere else gave us a window of an hour or two... and then we were not given a choice of what we could have. It was yummy however! The 2 owners unfortunately have... more
