We spent a weekend at the Avalon Eco Resort and it was nothing short of amazing! We normally don't write reviews of our trips but this hidden gem definitely warrants a praise. We were delightfully greeted by Charlie and Mike upon our arrival and they were welcoming making us feel right at home. Everything about this place was wonderful, from... More

I don't even know where to begin! The whole stay was really incredible. From the moment we turned in to the lane way, we were greeted by a friendly tail wagging labradoodle (who we later learned is named Charlie) who guided our car to the main building to check in, we felt an immediate sense of home right from the... Just started on a whim of wanting to explore the great north! We and our friends booked ourselves at the Avalon Eco Resort and are we glad we did! Just like another reviewer said, cannot praise the resort nor the owners enough. The size of the resort ( 4 cottages in all) itself lends it a very warm and cosy... More

We spent a weekend at this resort while visiting Killarney. It is quite close to the park and numerous trails. The resort setting is very nice and the views are amazing. We were the only visitors at that time so it was very peaceful and relaxing. Cottages are quite basic, but we had everything we needed except BBQ. We ended... More

I can not praise the Avalon Eco Resort highly enough; nor Mike, June, & Charlie the labradoodle, who run the resort. This review does not cover every aspect of what the Avalon Eco Resort has to offer, only those aspects that we used. My wife & I stayed mid August of 2012 with a cousin. We camped rather than stay... It seems I was lucky ( yes, it turns out lucky) that the main campground at Killarney Provincial Park was booked solid for the time period I needed to host my Cousin and his wife from the UK, for a northern Ontario camping experience. I had to do some research and whilst doing it, came across this gem in the... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at this retreat over the Labour Day Weekend. I feel calling it an 'Eco Retreat' may be more appropriate, and may address some of the issues the previous reviewer had. The facilities the previous reviewer took issue with are basically on par with other Eco retreats. Not only that, but the Avalon web site very... More

We were very disappointed with the hotel/resort. It is very run down and has few resources. The baths are separate from the rooms. There is no electricity and the overall feel is one of being neglected. I felt like I was "car camping". Not recommended unless you want to be camping.

This may not be the place for Eurotrash, but if you are looking for an extremely comfortable and picturesque location far removed from hectic urban life... this is the place. Breakfast is delicious and bountiful, using mostly organic and local produce. The two rroms overlook the lake, so you awake to the sound of the waves on windy mornings, and... More
