stunning rooms. Pictou is a hidden gem! The Inn has all the modern amenities. Owner is helpful is suggesting places for dinner. The morning breakfast is boxes of cereal, bread to toast and jams. Breakfast is not the reason to stay here. Stay for the HUGE and elegant rooms and location. more

We, like so many others, booked a room for a night on our honeymoon. We loved what we saw on the website and had high hopes of eating and drinking in the old stone pub in the basement. We found out from locals that the pub has been closed for several years so we have no idea why it's still... more

Located near the Northumberland shore in a quiet part of town close to amenities and within walking distance of the harbor. Although renovated in 1997, this 1870 property has a distinct musty old smell. Parking was limited. Large room with 30 foot ceilings and VERY tall windows. Nicely and modernly renovated with air conditioning. The jetted tub was our of... more

This is the second time that we have stayed at the Customs House Inn. We just love this place. I like that it doesn't have a big hotel feel yet it is much more private than a B&B. The innkeeper was very helpful when recommending where to go and how to get there. Careful though...they are identical twin brothers so... more

What a charming inn. I think this is a real find. The innkeeper was pleasant and helpful making reservations at a local restaurant. The building is restored with a real focus on maintaining historical integrity. I found the breakfast to be good with lots of cerials, homemade breads and coffee. I recommend this inn to all. more

I booked the Customs House on the strength of a review in a Lonely Planet guide, unfortunately did not check it out on Tripadvisor. Our room was pretty stark, furniture was OK but no softening touches at all. One of the real downsides is the outlook from the inn - overlooking a goods yard, with a view across the bay... more

We booked this B&B in Pictou because we thought it looked lovely in the website pictures. We decided that Pictou would be a good stop over for a trip between Halifax and Prince Edward Island, but we were sorely mistaken. We had reserved what was supposed to be a large room with a king size bed, dvd player, and a... more

I stayed here for one night, and enjoyed it. The location right by the water is interesting. As others have mentioned, however, the most outstanding feature of this property is the grand scale of the rooms. The high ceilings are magnificent, and the (presumably restored) wood floors are lovely. My room was so large, in fact, that the furniture almost... more

The Custom's House Inn was absolutely beautiful - with very attractively restored rooms. Our room had a high ceiling and a lovely fireplace. One wall of the room was brick. I agree with previous reviewers that the innkeeper was not the doting type. The "office" was closed most of the time. The atmospheric pub in the basement was the location... more

The Custom's House Inn has been beautifully restored, and made into a very attractive B&B. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very large. The furnishings are in keeping with the "period" feel of the house. It is a very attractive property. We particularly enjoyed the marble fireplace and 14 foot ceiling in our room. That said, I will agree with... more
