Was here for natal day. Great location, great value, an easy walk to everywhere. Room wasn't huge, and bathroom had a shower stall only, but it was well maintained, nicely decorated, and clean. Breakfast was but fine. Parking is free! Located in a quiet treed residential area: there is a busy street on one side which might have been noisy....

Dump! Looks nothing like web site! Don't stay here! Disgusting smell! Should be torn down!
We stayed 2 nights at the end of our Nova Scotia tour in august 2009 and have absolutely no complaints. Rooms were clean, breakfast was plenty and good, the hotel had a bit of an old charm to it which I really like. Would stay there again if I ever return to Halifax, and I hope to. Not having elevators...

Staff at the frontdesk was really kind and nice. Room was super clean but little small. Overall it is good for value.
Overall, this was a pretty good place to stay. Definitely one of the more affordable options in downtown Halifax, and with free parking, free breakfast, free wi-fi, etc. it is a good value for a room in the city. The rooms are a bit basic, and it's an old building, so you will hear people moving about. To me, this...

We booked for three nights but left after one. Our room was on the top floor so getting all our bags there was a bit of a challenge. We found the room all right but the fruit flies bothered us all night. I have never experienced a fruit fly problem in a hotel before. The room could have been cleaner...

Unfortunately, when open fruit and wine is kept in the room, there is very little we can do about fruit flies in the summer months - they go where they can get food. We're very sorry for any inconvenience this caused.

We stayed in two separeate rooms on two separate nights. The first night was a last minute stay and the only thing available was a basement room... we payed $80 and it wasn't worth much more. The room wasn't overly musty but there were water stains on the bathroom ceiling and around the window trim. Bed was fine and the...

We stayed four nights at the Commons Inn in Halifax. It's the 2nd cheapest hotel in town. We stayed first three nights in a Deluxe room. Everything was all right : flat screen tv, micro wave, fridge, coffee maker. Parking and continental breakfast are included. Only one thing to respect : have the room made before three o'clock or it...

This is not a 5-star luxury hotel with hoity-toity amenities. But this is a great little inn centrally located with amazing customer service in a world where that seems to be lacking.
Pros: great location--literally 5-10 minutes near Citadel and about 15 minutes to downtown/boardwalk; we loved the colorful houses in the nearby neighborhoods. Great free breakfast (toast, pastries, fruit,...
