What a fabulous hostel - it's big enough to house the numbers of people, great kitchen facilities and knowledgeable staff. Friendly dorm-mates, everyone is fun and easy-going. Only downside is kitchen opens at 7.30am and earlier would be better for the excursions which leave early in the morning. Also, room was cold at first but staff quick to privde blacnkets... More

It seems as if their mattrasses came with the settlers- I paid way too much, to get some sleep, but I ended up awake with aching bones cause of the poor quality of the mattress- 10 cm thick at the edge, about 0cm in the middle. I slept in millions of dorm beds, but this was by far the worst.... More

I found the HI to be very clean, professional, friendly, safe, and sane. I came running with terror from the other hostel in town and was so relieved to be comfortable and safe here! The staff is extremely helpful and everyone respects the quite hour but there is definitely a fun atmosphere. This is one of the best hostels I've... More

Spent some weeks here, all in all - this really was the best place we could wish for as a base to explore Halifax. It's donwtown, it's clean, the kitchen is spacious, there's events and you get to meet a lot of new people, the staff is super friendly, super helpful and quiky in the best possible way - thanks... I have stayed in two different private doubles in this hostel, along with a dorm. Heritage House is a fairly standard hostel, with all the facilities you will need - kitchen, washrooms, laundry etc. I would recommend it to anyone passing through Halifax on a budget! There were all kinds of travellers staying at the Hostel during my visit (young,... More

We recently spent three nights at this hostel and loved it. We were traveling with a nine-year-old and a 12-year-old and booked a family room with a private bathroom. Our room was quite warm as there is no air conditioning and only one window, but we solved that by picking up a $20 fan at Canadian tire. The location of... More

We stayed with our friends in the 2 bedrooms apartment upstairs, with a small sitting area and its own bathroom. On the negative side, each bedroom has a rug in it, and they are quite dirty. There is no view so you don't want to stay to long. The common area seemed cleaner, and the service was fine. We stayed... More

We stayed for 2 nights in this friendly, clean, we'll equipped and nicely located hostel in Halifax. It s just a 5 mins walk to a 24 h supermarket as well as the VIA rail train station and the market. To the waterfront its around 10 mins walk. Just the wifi connection lacks a bit and it can get super... More

I recently stayed here for 3 nights. The place feels very homey being as it was, a large home prior to being a hostel. The location is quite good, close to a grocery store, 2 blocks from the harbour and a short walk to downtown shopping and entertainment. The walk from the airport bus drop off is quite long however,... More

I got the room # and everything at the front desk but my bed was taken by somebody else when I went in. The front desk girl moved all this guest's stuff to another bed that she was supposed to take and made a notice that "you have to take your bed #" They have a strict rule that you... More
