The hostel is just 2 minutes from the train station and with Halifax being relatively small also 2 minutes from the shops/waterfront. Dorm was in the basement and got quite noisy at night with people walking past on the street. No breakfast offered. Massive VHS collection for rainy days/chilled out evenings in the tv room.

I really liked this hostel. It had excellent staff, super clean facilities, good location, excellent VHS collection, but most importantly it had a really good vibe. The kitchen, tv room and outdoor patio are really great social spaces and it was super easy to make friends to go on adventures with. I loved it and would recommend it to everyone.

We spent two nights in this cosy, laid-back hostel with a very friendly vibe. It is located in the heart of Halifax, only minutes away from the beautiful harbour front and the train station. Despite of its central location the area is very quiet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The guest kitchen is spacious and well equipped. We had... More

We stayed in one of the private rooms in the back. Very quiet, very clean. This is a fairly large hostel but still comfortable, helpful staff. Put the car in the parking garage next door for $8 per day and walked around. Many good restaurants nearby, plus easy access to all of Halifax downtown. Walking tours. Ghost tour. Pubs.

No complaints about this place at all! Stayed in shared dorm which was clean and quiet! Friendly and helpful staff. Great location near train station and town for drinks n exploring and also the harbour for the markets. Super value! The kitchen/ chilling area is tastefully decorated and there are two big fridges to easily access your food. Would recommend.... More

Arrived late and left earlier, so only saw the front desk, my dorm and bathroom. The staff was nice and everything was clean and of the standard you would expect at a hostel. I slept well even straight after my cross-Atlantic flight, which I don't usually. The price is cheap and the location is convenient, very close to the bus... More

What a fabulous hostel - it's big enough to house the numbers of people, great kitchen facilities and knowledgeable staff. Friendly dorm-mates, everyone is fun and easy-going. Only downside is kitchen opens at 7.30am and earlier would be better for the excursions which leave early in the morning. Also, room was cold at first but staff quick to privde blacnkets... More

It seems as if their mattrasses came with the settlers- I paid way too much, to get some sleep, but I ended up awake with aching bones cause of the poor quality of the mattress- 10 cm thick at the edge, about 0cm in the middle. I slept in millions of dorm beds, but this was by far the worst.... More

I found the HI to be very clean, professional, friendly, safe, and sane. I came running with terror from the other hostel in town and was so relieved to be comfortable and safe here! The staff is extremely helpful and everyone respects the quite hour but there is definitely a fun atmosphere. This is one of the best hostels I've... More
