I used to live in Halifax and remember this to be a nice hotel, but when I went back there I found the carpet fraying and wallpaper coming off the walls. The front of the hotel is dirty and the paint and wood is in a sad state. I was there for 4 night s and I didn't even get... more

My first impression upon entering the room was how small & dated the bathroom was. There were even some cracks on the side of the tub, & the enamel on the sink was wearing off. The first night I stayed there our neighbours were so rowdy (talking loudly in the hallways, doors slamming, loud music, etc) that I complained several... more

I dont usually complain about anything but felt obligated to write on this site for you all. The ONLY thing good about this hotel is the location. Other than that the room we stayed in was very dated....1960 ish. Furnitiure old and stained. Carpet old, worn and stained with crumbs and dust bunnies around all edges. The bed was definately... more

My wife and I unfortunately were booked into this hotel for 5 nights during September 08 as part of a tour (4 days before 1 afterwards). It was our first trip to Canada. The hotel is awful. Dirty and run down foyer, mostly sullen, demoralised staff. Clean room and bed comfortable, but room otherwise awful; dated, stained and very tatty.... more

We are conducting a renovation project in stages and our current work will cause no disruption to our guests during their stay. In 2008 we began our exterior facelift. Due to weather constraints, it will re-commence in Spring 2009. Stay tuned for details on our interior refurbishment.

We stayed at the Citadel for three nights from 11th September 2008 as part of a tour. I have no complaints - it was clean; the rooms were large by English standards as they have two double beds and a writing desk; there was air conditioning and an opening window; everything was provided in the bathroom. We had tea and... more

I stayed at the citadel hotel in Aug. 2008 and thought by the website it was a nice hotel. I was wrong!! The room I stayed in had huge stains on the carpet , the paint in the bathroom ceiling was falling down and there were pee stains on the back of the toilet. Needless to say I will not... more

The Citadel is a hotel that we stayed at about 14 years ago. We thought it was great back then. We couldn't believe how bad everything has gotten. Nothing seems to have been updated in regards to the rooms at all. The staff on the front desk were not friendly at all. We paid for parking at the hotel, and... more

Nothing spectacular about this place, but a convenient location and good enough facilities. Desk staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable. more

The best thing that the Citadel hotel has going for it is its location, situated just a block away from the Citadel National Historic Site. It's convenient to the Citadel, the downtown, the waterfront, and the Spring Garden Road shopping area. It was great that the hotel was so well-placed, because I spent very little time there. Nothing about the... more

I stayed at this hotel for one night and I would not recommend it to any of my friends. It needs a serious face-lift. Maybe if you were paying 1/3 of their price you might not care. II was on the 8th floor and the hallways were hot and the wallpaper was marked and torn in spots. It was just... more
