Stayed here for one night. This hotel is in a good location -- right next to the public garden and a little bit of a walk from the waterfront (but not too far), and convenient to other shopping. Check-in was quick and the staff were welcoming. The room was also pretty nice. I think the snack basket with all sorts... More

Don't let the old school lobby with the brass elevator doors scare you. The Lord Nelson is a great hotel with charm and good service. The rooms are fresh and modern and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel so perfectly located across from Halifax Public Gardens and Dalhousie. I will certainly stay here again.

They go out of their way to provide personal service to each guest. Upon learning my son was attending his first year university in Halifax the front desk sent up a letter containing many useful tips for getting his students card and books as well as a map of the campus. In his room they had left a card and... More

Love this hotel. Lovely decor. Good service & personnel. Especially like the location right beside the beautiful Public Gardens. "The Arms" restaurant has wonderful food, and great ambiance, and its renovation means it is now wheelchair accessible. But accessibility is an issue. The parking lot contractor continues to close off level 1 of the parking lot. Which left us stranded... More

I stayed for four nights with my daughter and her two children. We had a suite- two beds and a pull-out couch. It was a very comfortable room with a kitchenette and quite a bit of space. We found the staff to be very attentive, especially with the children.

Beautiful hotel, and great staff. But be aware that even though you sit with other patrons, you will be watched so that you don't take your food from the buffet. You are directed to a temporary buffet with a very limited selection of fruit and hot foods. Often tour groups have separate dining areas with a different selection, and this... More

Thank you Col for your recent stay and helpful comments. My apologies for the disappointment with our breakfast service. I can assure you our buffet in the restaurant is very popular and includes a variety of both cold and hot breakfast options. Some tours reserve their own buffet that on occasion would include a couple of different options. These groups... More

One night stay but very comfortable beds and spacious room. The staff at the bell stand and front desk were informative, pleasant, and clearly trying to serve everyone. Only drawback on the room is the small bathroom with virtually no counters, very disproportionate to the rest of the room's size, which had a sofa and desk.

Thank you Mark for the positive review and recent stay. I'm pleased you found our staff friendly & helpful and satisfied with value received. I love old historic hotels, especially when they combine modern conveniences with old-time charm and beauty, and the Lord Nelson fits the bill perfectly. They must have had a mass exodus the day we arrived, because our room wasn't ready yet, but they gave us a couple of vouchers to have drinks in the (characterful) hotel bar, and the room... More

We have been staying here for about 2 weeks. Because it is Sunday, we decided to have the breakfast buffet. After being seated, we went to the buffet, where we had to wait quite a bit (about 15 min) to get omelets. There are no eggs on the buffet, so you have to ask for an omelet if you want... More
