We loved everything about this hotel, however we were constantly unable to access our room and changed our key cards frequently. On last day I suggested the lock may require maintenance and although the lady I originally spoke to agreed and thanked me, other staff became quite accusing , suggesting we didn't store the cards in a suitable place.....this made... I had a hard timing choosing a hotel for my four night stay last week. I don't like chains and there weren't many other choices. I decided on the Lord Nelson for its location and size and I am glad I did. Hotel is in great shape staffed with very friendly and chatty employees who wouldn't hesitate to engage you... More

This is a great Halifax hotel and very worth staying at. First off, it's extremely friendly. The front desk and the two doorman as well as all of the staff are great. If you are a weary tourist then you will be treated to East Coast hospitality right from the moment you walk in. Now the basics... Rooms are very... More

This is a grand old hotel in a wonderful location. You are short walk into the downtown core and the harbour. You can run/walk in the public gardens across the road. We had a wonderful bed, and a large clean well presented room. Parking is in a covered lot downstairs. We had a package with parking included - otherwise it... More

Although it is showing its age, this hotel has lots of character. Beautiful lobby! We moved into a larger room after the first night because we found ours too small, particularly the bathroom. I really liked that the windows could be opened to let in fresh air. The staff were helpful and friendly and you cannot beat the location. Everything... More

We stayed here with a volleyball team for a tournament hosted at Dalhousie university. The hotel was very accommodating to the group and very helpful in getting us sorted out. The rooms were basic but served our purposes well. The foyer was really fantastic and the atmosphere was much better than the usual 3 star hotels we are stuck in.... More
