This hotel was recommended for the start of our holiday in NS but proved to be a disappointment. We stayed 2 nights 10-11 June. I feel it lives on past glories. The bedroom was small, no view and poorly equipped (e.g. no milk for tea and coffee, which when asked for was provided, but never replenished for the following day).... More

Although a little tired looking this place is well located to experience the capital of Nova Scotia. It is in easy reach of the waterfront and ocean terminal and many good restaurants/pubs. The room was old style, high ceilings etc, but quiet and well equipped. Breakfast was continental and a bit limited, but nevertheless adequate. The fine dining restaurant was... More

The location of the Halliburton is very good, as it is in easy walking distance of almost everything in downtown/old Halifax and is close to the ferry to Dartmouth. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. Our first two nights we were in a room in one of the buildings adjacent to the main building/lobby/restaurant. The room was very nice... More

We enjoyed all aspects of this boutique hotel from our spacious room and continental breakfast to the location. Our room was on the second floor but the staircase is wide and easy to maneuver with suitcases in hand. There was a lovely room with computer and internet connection in the main building. The location was just a few blocks from... More

My wife and I stayed at The Halliburton from May 23 to May 25, 2013. Our time there could not have been more pleasing! Robert (the owner), Maddie and all of the other staff were unfailingly cordial, efficient and helpful. Our suite had a comfortable bedroom and a spacious living room with a real fireplace; the temperature control was perfect.... More

Started our 2 week Nova Scotian exploration with a comfortable 2 night stay at The Halliburton. The friendly welcome made us feel right at home, which indeed it is (in fact 3 homes, or historic houses dating from the early 19th century). Charming interiors, very clean, with comfortable beds. Well stocked and fresh continental breakfast prior to heading downtown, which... More

Inn is well situated for down town shopping and historical sites. Dinner menu looked especially tasting. Consecutive year winner for best restaurant in Halifax. Very small dining... More

We stayed in this hotel twice during our visit to Canada last August. The hotel is well-located for a walking tour of old Halifax and close to the harbour. The bedroom was small but well-appointed. There was a small carpark in which to park the car. There was a small terrace outside on which to sit and read. On the... More

You have hit the nail on the head with your review David. We are a small, independent hotel and as such pride ourselves as being an alternative to the big hotel experience. It is an aspect of our property that allows us to provide the personal, comfortable and attentive service our guests expect as they enjoy their Halifax visit. More

I stayed here for a couple of days on a work trip and found this hotel to be cosy, warm and very nice. However, I found that for a work trip, it didn't meet my needs well. The room was really small and there was no desk. So for getting a little work done in the evening or between meetings,... More
