I like "boutique" hotels, but I admit to some disappointment with the Halliburton. I must have rushed through various online reviews, so let me clarify for others. This is NOT an updated or modernly decorated boutique hotel. It's an older hotel, with old decor that feels a bit run down to me. The bathroom sink has no vanity around it,... More

The property is apparently designated "historic" and as such can't have an elevator. We were in an attic room and I do have trouble with stairs. The desk clerk was surprised that I hadn't noticed the "disabled" designation on their website; I am not disabled, don't use a wheelchair, walker, cane, etc., but I find several flights of stairs a... Loved this boutique hotel. I read great reviews and the hotel lived up to all of them. Very friendly staff, great location, beautiful building and rooms, super clean and comfortable. No elevator but not a big deal and staff offered many times to help carry luggage if we needed. Parking is included which is a bonus. Also perfect location for... More

Very disappointed with the Halliburton. Our double room was tiny, you would expect if you have a double room to be able to get in both sides of the bed... Sadly not! The bed was pushed up against the wall, with no bedside table or light on one side. The bathroom was clean, but had no plug in the sink.... More

I am pleased these guests enjoyed our great location downtown. Our Double rooms are certainly not as spacious as our Queen rooms. We clearly describe them as "Petite" on all channels and our web site. They are a great value however and many guests find them quaint and cozy. I regret that a travel agent reserved one for this guest... More

We had 3 nights at the start of our 3 weeks driving holiday around Nova Scotia . The Halliburton is really well situated for restaurants and the Maritime Museum and Museum at Pier 21 . The waterfront area is lovely - with a boardwalk . We had a front downstairs room overlooking the street. The advantage of a ground floor... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and creative cuisine at "Stories". Our waitress was friendly and knowledgable. She gently guided us in making food selections and allowed us to choose appetizers for our main course. The servings sizes were ample and delicious. We liked it so much that we chose to have dinner there a second night... More

Nice hotel but staff wouldn't turn on central air conditioning without managers approval. And since he wasn't in on weekend they wouldn't turn it on. Had to open windows and hear the trash trucks at 5:00 AM.

Some clarification will be helpful here. I was consulted regarding the climate control in this area of the hotel. The thermostat was adjusted at the request of our guest. I regret to report that we discovered 12 hours later that the specific HVAC unit had failed. Fortunately, this unit was operational the next day. More

We stayed in The Halliburton for 3 nights at the start of our Nova Scotia fly drive. Nicely appointed room, with comfy bed, plenty of space etc. The hotel is well situated near the main harbour areas, and is easy to find. Staff were very helpful and the restaurant inside was great. The scallops in rice paper with ginger and... More

The Halliburton consists of three vintage town houses in a perfect location for visiting Halifax. They even have free parking immediately adjacent to the hotel. The front desk staff were pleasant and accommodating. There are no elevators so request a ground floor room if that's an issue for you. Our room was nicely appointed - not lavish - but well... More

The Halliburton is Halifax's Historic Boutique Hotel located in downtown Halifax within walking distance of the waterfront and the many restaurants. The Halliburton was built in 1809 as the home of Sir Brenton Halliburton, the first Chief Justice of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court. From 1885-1887, the building served as Dalhousie University's prestigious law school. It's an unusual set up... More
