We recently stayed at the Haliburton for an overnight getaway from the kids! We had a wonderful experience as the staff were extremely courteous and accommodating. The accommodations were very comfortable, clean and charming. One of the biggest pluses is the fact that this Hotel has an amazing restaurant. I have eaten at many restaurants in Halifax and this has... More

Greatly enjoyed the Halliburton! It's got a lot of character, rooms are comfortable and clean, though definitely not huge. Location is excellent - two (steep) blocks up from the waterfront boardwalk, it's also an easy walk to everything at the Seaport and Lower Water St. The hotel staff were very helpful in general, and in particular with suggestions to terrific... So pleased to hear you enjoyed the Halifax waterfront. August is a big month for us with lots of activities underway. Kris and her team at our front desk continue to impress guests with their knowledge of our city and their eagerness to help. More

We stayed 4 nights at the Halliburton and couldn't have been happier... Our room in the 2nd building was comfortable, clean and had a nice view on to the street. The continental breakfast in the main building is perfect and the staff were more than kind and helpful.

Welcoming helpful (strong!) staff. Food was all homemade. Baked beans for breakfast were lovely and enjoyed our evening meals. Roof top balcony with tables and chairs were handy to sit in the sun. Very convenient for halifax boardwalk, only 10 mins down to waterfront and restaurants. Hotel has no lift, the girls on reception carry up suitcases, but if not... More

We stayed two nights, with my wife and teenage son. We had a great room, an upstairs duplex suite, very large and quite comfortable, with a separate room upstairs. Even a fairly full kitchen, though we didn't take advantage of that. Probably the main downside is no elevator, so luggage must be carried up the stairs. (Not a problem for... More

We spent four nights here while visiting Halifax. As others have noted this hotel is quite old, and located in three buildings that are walking distance to the waterfront and other attractions such as Pier 21, farmers' market, Spring Garden Road, and the Citadel. But be prepared for the steep hills of Halifax! The free parking and continental breakfast were... More

I was pleased that this guest mentioned the age of our hotel. It is certainly old. In fact we celebrated the 200th birthday of our main house last year. If you are looking for new "bricks & mortar", there are plenty of wonderful options close by. Other guests appreciate the historic significance of what we offer. More

This was our second visit to the Halliburtan and we enjoyed both our visits. The hotel is in three buildings and has some steep steps to get to the upper floors. It has free parking behind it and a garden to relax in. Our second visit did not leave as positive an impression as our first visit nearly 10 years... More

Stayed here for two nights. Here are a few things to note that might be helpful.... 1. The hotel has a main building and adjoining buildings. The rooms are of a good size, but the furnishings are in need of an update. You will note nice antiques, but also fabric sofas that look like 1995 and 30 year old coffee... More

Spotless room, nice and big. Tastefully decorated with period style furniture, a bit like staying with your grandparents. Excellent location for the city and a very short walk to the waterfront. Very good restaurant and good continental style breakfast. Would definitely recommend

The Halliburton consists of three separate town houses, all historic "heritage" properties. It is a short walk from downtown Halifax and the bustling waterfront district, with its boardwalk and eateries.

We stayed on two separate occasions. Both our rooms were tastefully decorated with period furniture and furnishings, although the first was a little small.

The Halliburton is host to "Stories"... More
