Extraordinary hospitality with a spectacular view. This describes our stay at Graham’s Pioneer Retreat in April 2014. It was the Easter weekend and an Easter card and chocolate eggs were waiting for us in the cottage when we arrived! A few hours after our arrival, Linda brought over a pound of scallops and a bottle of wine! Solace cottage was lovely... More

Thank you for the wonderful comments. We are delighted to hear when guests enjoy what we offer. We realize that our amenities differ from what others try to achieve as standard. Everyone needs quiet time. The view helps fulfill a sense of inner peace. We hope to see you again. Linda P.S. Easter Bunny said "You didn't find all the... More

My family and I had endured a tragic year. At the age of 48 my dear brother had passed away in his sleep from heart failure. That is something one never gets over. Not long after, I had an operation that did not go well. I ended up in the hospital with an infection that took all the physical and... More

When you arrived and told me of your pain, my heart broke. I feel so fortunate that we are able to offer this place that is so many things to so many people. A place off the beaten path, next to such a magnificent body of water, nestled in the folds of Mother Nature's arms, yet so close to all... More

We went and stayed at the Solace cabin in June this year and my husband had to pry my hands off the railing of the beautiful deck to get me to leave. We only stayed two nights and it was an amazing, quiet, peaceful place to be. I am going to go back for a week as soon as I... More

Thank you so much for your kind words. We love to hear when our guests/friends enjoy our little get-a-way. After the hustle and bustle of city life we offer what Mother Nature gives us. There is nothing like that first cup of coffee watching the sun come up. What a great way to start you day. I hope during your... More

My wife and I spent 2 nights here in July, 2013 and we wish we wouldn't have left. What a beautiful place to be, so relaxing, right next to the shore of St. Mary's Bay!!! I can't fully put into words how much I enjoyed this property! Dave and his wife Linda are so very friendly and welcoming and the... More

Thank you for sharing your vacation with us at the retreat. So many of our guests wish they had more time to stay. It is just so relaxing away from the sounds of traffic and busy city life, to be on the shore of Saint Mary's Bay. The sounds of the tide washing over the pebble beach lull you to... More

We were traveling in Canada with our 17 year old nephew and planned a 2 night stay. It was quiet, peaceful & relaxing in a beautiful, secluded location with an amazing view, private beach, gazebo to relax and grill and a porch overlooking the ocean to enjoy morning coffee or an evening drink. We did some day trips like whale... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our retreat for others to read. In today's busy world we seem to have left out family time. We don't seem to be able to spend much time getting back to who and what is important. That is why we offer NO T.V. Isn't it just great to walk the... More

Both my wife and I stayed 6 nights and returned last weekend. The cottage was beautiful overlooking the Bay. Very peaceful and relaxing. We both had a great time doing day trips to do whale watching and going to all the coves and beaches in the area . Nothing beats fresh Nova Scotia Lobster and scallops for dinner every night.... There are so many day trips and places to investigate to keep a traveler busy for weeks. Travel is always a learning experience. A stay with us and a day whale watching go hand in hand. Digby Neck is full of little coves and beaches to venture to. It sounds like you also found time to put your feet up... More

It was wonderful seeing you both again and meeting your grandson. What a nice young man. Where did the time go? Sorry we didn't make it down this year for a bonfire. Yes, it is so peaceful and tranquil sitting on the deck watching the porpoise fishing and the seals watching you. The seals are so curious. We have had... More

Quiet and Relaxing. Two very good adjectives to describe our retreat. We are located far enough off the road, you can't even hear the cars go by. It is quiet enough to hear the waves washing up on shore, the birds singing, and the loons call. We look forward to your next vacation with us. Remember a stay of 4... More

We spent a few days in May staying at Graham's Pioneer Retreat and had a fabulous time! The accommodations were top-notch and the scenery was simply breath-taking. We spent hours beach-combing and watching the sea for porpoises and seals and sat by a roaring campfire on the beach. It was honestly like something you'd see on a commercial on TV.... More

I must agree with you: bonfires on the beach are great fun no matter what time of year. I am sorry we missed yours. Dave and I often go down to the beach to meet our guests and enjoy a bonfire. I hope you were able to find some "take me home" rocks or even sea glass on your beach... More

Thank you for sharing your stay with others on Trip Advisor. It is so nice to hear from folks with young adults in their party, who have survived a stay with no phone, t.v., or computer.
