The owners are super friendly and invited us to come when they were hosting a music festival. So, we brought our instruments and my husband got to jam with some of the excellent musicians who also stayed at the lodge. The property is located right on the river with the ocean beyond and the view is spectacular. Nearby or on... More

My girlfriend, son and I stayed in the large red yurt for two nights in late August. The yurt had two beds, a few foot stools, a table, a couch, a small dresser, a couple flashlights (you'll need them), a bottle of water, and a wood stove in the middle of the yurt. The deck was a good size for... More

We had ridden around 50 miles and were ready to stop for the day. Fortunately we rode by the Cabot Shores entrance and decided to see what was there. What we found was a beautiful hideaway nestled between a river, freshwater ponds and the ocean. Quite spectacular. We stayed the night in the cedar yurt only planning on staying one... More

This was our first time staying in a yurt and it was a great experience. We stayed in the red yurt which was huge. Our gracious hosts had set up sleeping spaces for all five of us including a cot and a pull out couch. Even with everything set up, there was ample space for the kids to move around... More

What a stunning place. There's a river, emptying in to the ocean with a pebble beach right on sight. It's just stunning. We stayed in the yurt which was cool, and enjoyed our time here. I was surprised to see some mixed reviews as I thought the place was great and pretty up front in setting expectations. Even gave us... More

This is an odd place. We stayed in a traditional room in the lodge and the room was the least adequate we has during our 9 say trip. Construction seems cheap. The dinner was fine. Breakfast and all activities come with an extra cost. The place had a hippie feel. Read reviews closely. They also have yurts but we would... More

How could we resist the opportunity to sleep in a Yurt? What a lovely place. Owners are friendly and welcoming. Beds were comfortable and the Yurt was a unique experience. Be aware that Cabot Shores does not claim to be anything it is not. It is sleeping in yurts (or whatever your accommodation) the toilets are in a different building,... More

We had a great three days in the blue cottage. The first night we had a reunion dinner with friend from Zimbabwe and the UK in the bistro. BBQ-ed Lobster the second night, salmon the last and sat till late every evening around the fire looking out to the sea. Mackerel was caught at English River to cook for breakfast... More

Englishtown, Cape Breton has long been known as a community that attracts 'Back to the Landers', artisans and aging hippies. In other words it's quite quirky and awesome. Imagine entering the main building of your resort to find your host playing his trombone - how cool is that??? There are all kinds of accommodations here - beautiful lodge rooms and... More
