We feel incredibly fortunate to have found Cabot Shores. During our stay we hiked with Paul and Barbara (and Cosmo!) to hidden waterfalls, explored Indian Brook and had the great pleasure of going whale watching. Plus, great meals, music by the fire and excellent company - who would have guessed we would meet such incredible people?! We are already working... more

Cabot Shores in a fantastic like getaway on the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton. Not only is it in a picturesque spot, the lodge is very comfortable and it feel like you are staying with friends rather then at a stuffy, isolated hotel. Barb and Paul are extremely warm, welcoming and accommodating making my stay absolutely memorable. And I was... more

We had a wonderful stay at Cabot Shores. Our cabin had a deck with a glorious view of the water. We ate delicious food, listened to local musicians play music in the lodge in the evening by a fire, got great tips on spots to visit for the best hikes and seafood in the area and best of all...after many... more

We had always ready how lovely the Cape Breton area was but nothing can prepare you for the truly breathtaking scenery that fall brings to this part of the world. The fall colors, the lovely coastal view and "moose sightings" make for many memories. The people are warm and generous. We were always made to feel welcome no matter where... more

Calming, relaxing and friendly Cabot Shores is a home from home. The wonderful atmosphere permeates through everything and everyone, staff and guests alike. Met some of the nicest people here. Dr Paul is a most welcoming of hosts and is extremely helpful when planning outings. Sheila, the chef, is fun and has a great sense of humour - and can... more

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The resort is very quaint with its lodge-like style. It is distinct from your average hotel and much better than your average Bed and Breakfast. The staff was very friendly and personable. We had many helpful tips with regards to the Cabot Trail in terms of where to go and... more

While the food is less than perfect...they never ran out of beer. The bar has a nice selection of beer. On Cape Breton Island and Newfoundland beer is more important than food and perhaps life itself. Contrary to other reviews, I found out chalet and all public spaces to be quite clean. While the Marriot Harbor Inn in Halifax might... more

I hope the reviewer of the last comment is the couple I met at Cabot Shore, never really got time to chat enough, they are great, funny couple, so as other new friends I met there. That is what makes this retreat special: Paul is always around and so friendly, always tried to make you feel like at home. He... more

We stayed in the Blue Chalet which was well designed, modern, fresh and comfortable with lovely views of the Bay. We dined every evening in the Lodge where there was a relaxed, casual, friendly atmosphere. Fellow travellers met and felt at ease sharing experiences of the day. Paul the owner/ manager is friendly and easy going and sets the tone... more
