This inn did not respond to repeated phone or e mail attempts to contact them.. We ended up staying nearby, and saw that it appeared deserted; not at all as depicted on the website.(We were there mid June) Some rooms on top front would have fairly good views. Restaurant was closed. What happened?! It is a beautiful area, but VERY... More

Here's to planning your 2014 summer vacation to Cape Breton and making the Barra Strait Inn your lodging destination! The Barra Strait Inn and the surrounding Bras d'Or Lakes region is my favorite place on earth to escape to a kinder gentler way of life. (let me preface this by stating I traveled extensively as a flight attendant for decades... More

I love this place. Susan is an amazing host, the views are incredible and the rooms are lovely. I was travelling around Canada and stayed in some nice hotels but the barra strait Inn was the best place I stayed. Would love to visit again.

On a 3-week trip away from Colorado, we booked the Barra Strait Inn because of the reviews on TripAdvisor and because we were tired of motels in cities. We agree with every review I have read - with hospitality, comfort and views being our most favorite aspects of the Inn. Susan was away, so her very delightful and down-to-earth sister... More

With our first step through the doors, we were greeted by the warmest person I have ever met, Marlene took care of like no one has ever done before. For our breakfast we enjoyed fishcakes, beans, eggs and the best coffee. We enjoyed chatting with other patrons and invited our family members from the area to join us for and... More

We had an amazing time during our 4 day stay at the Inn. We were there around mid-late august and it was absolutely beautiful there! I loved everything about it. The view was breathtaking, service wonderful. We really enjoyed the live music after our delicious dinner. And during the days we explored all the nearby tourist attractions and the owners... More

Besides garbage left behind tables and what seemed to be unclean comforters ( sheets smelled fresh though). The Customer service I experienced from the Manager and/or owner was absolutely terrible. I felt as though paying a hundred dollars for a "tidy" room without a working Tv or Wifi was a bit much. As a customer care professional I know that... More

We were extremely disappointed in this facility. We were lead to believe by the owner there was plenty to do here. There was absolutely nothing, not even a restaurant, other than the inn. The first night there was a party, with fireworks going off until 4:30 A.M., very loud, profanity, and shouting right outside our room. The next morning we... More

We spent three nights in two rooms here, using it as a central base to travel around Cape Breton. The rooms are very basic (although looking at other people's photos makes me think we had a couple of the un-renovated ones). The rooms were functional and clean, and the balcony, while in need of some repair, was an absolute joy... More
