The beauty of this Victorian home is overshadowed only by the graciousness of it's hosts, Gaya and Jim. The rooms are tastefully appointed, spacious, inviting and immaculate. Breakfast was excellent as was the conversation around the breakfast table. My one regret is we only could stay one night. We'll be back...this time for more than one night.

We spent one night here, and were warmly received by the hostess. Our 1st floor room was a gorgeous suite with a sitting area. I was blown away by the spaciousness and cleanliness. It was well appointed, beautifully decorated, and had recently been remodeled and updated. We could not have been happier. Just an observation and not a criticism: none... More

My fiance and I spent the nights of July 21 and 22 at Bread and Roses and thoroughly enjoyed Jim and Gayla's lovely home, their kind hospitality and the smell of fresh banana bread baking when we arrived. Our room was beautifully decorated, comfortable and private. Breakfast was delicious and we had fun swapping stories with the other guests. If... More

We were completely blown away by this gorgeous home. Truly beautiful. Just off the centre of town in a quiet location. Everything was meticulously clean with ironed sheets. The breakfast was nothing special and the true let down was the hostess. Although far from rude she was rather cold and seemed a bit burnt out. The host was also distant,... More

We stayed for two nights and we were thoroughly impressed. Jim and Gaya are extremely welcoming and make you feel completely comfortable from the outset. Breakfast was delicious. The first day with bacon and eggs and the second a kind of omelet. Both days there was a lovely fruit salad, homemade banana bread and scones and a variety of cold... More

We have stayed in lots of B&B's, but this one was especially charming and enjoyable. The grounds are full of gorgeous flowers and plantings; the house is classic Victorian, down to the last detail (and all details are beautiful!). The room was top-notch - meticulously clean, very comfortable (soft sheets and towels!) and airy. The proprietors could not have been... More

House is lovely, Victorian. However, proprietors seemed a little stand offish which didn't create a welcoming atmosphere. Wasn't offered tea or any warm drinks during a very cool afternoon, evening. Breakfast was adequate although I've had much better, more sumptuous breakfasts at other places I've stayed. Compared to other places, this was average. I'd look elsewhere before I would stay... Four women travelers, looking for last minute accommodations in Annapolis Royal, driving around in the rain, turning down a side street to get somewhere else, stumbled upon Bread and Roses Inn. Two of us went in, two stayed in the car. To our gentle knock there was no reply, but as we entered, the voice just behind us greeted. The... More

Not only is this a beautiful historic building, the grounds and the city are wonderfully charming! We were the first to arrive and had a chance to look at all of the rooms. All of them are decorated beautifully. Our room was no exception and was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and upon arriving we were asked if there... More

A repeat stay of three nights for us, and the experience was every bit as good as the impression of a year ago (see our review of 6/25/13). Lovely old Victorian home, meticulously kept, within easy walking distance to historic sites, the Gardens and all amenities of Annapolis Royal. Accommodating hosts (Jim and Gaya) who prompted great conversations with guests... More
