Stayed at the Loyalist for 4 during for the Shelburne lobster festival. Lots of character to this place, rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. Central to everything in Shelburne. Owner Gary was welcoming and provided good company in the restaurant/bar. Food was delicious! Better than expected.

Now first, do not get put off by the external appearance - yes it looks closed or even shut down, certainly needs some work here to attract custom. We had booked online and we're not expecting what we saw - peak in through the window and you will see old furniture piled up in one room that used to be... More

We were treated to a terrific meal. Service is informal, easy going and attentive. If you want to have fine dining food in an informal setting with friendly open service, this is the place to go in Shelburne. Gary is a great host. This discerning barkeep has the best craft beer in Nova Scotia, Hell's Bay (from nearby Liverpool) on... More

Deceiving from the outside but well appointed inside. Great care by Gary O'Connor, proprietor, both in welcoming us and attending to our needs. After a day's ride on motorcycles and a hike to down to the coast along the way, my friend had acquired a tick on the hike. After seeking assistance from numerous guests, including the pharmacy across the... More

This place is NOT what is advertised. We should of seen the writing on the wall when we arrived to a note on the window saying "return at 3". When we arrived we found out that not one thing was open inside the inn, the restraint, the bar, nothing. We were checked in and told to leave the keys on... More

We did not stay at the Inn, as we had rented a house near the harbour but we dined there when we could. The food was truly outstanding. We kind of expected standard pub fare, but were pleasantly surprised, all the food was freshly prepared: home-made ravioli, aubergine soup, a dish of chana daahl and home-made blueberry bread pudding ,... When we arrived, there was a note on the door saying it was closed Monday and Tuesday. It said: "Need a Room, Need to check in?"...phone this number.....we did and 15 mins. later someone came to let us in. I told her I didn't realize that they would be closed. She never answered me! What would have happened if we... More

Upon arrival the hotel restaurant and bar were both shut and there were no other guests so it did feel a bit lifeless. Whilst the room we were in was spotlessly clean the bathroom was tiny and shower had seen better days. It was OK and there was free wifi so all in all would recommend.

Upon arrival, we realized that the stairs were too steep for us to carry our baggage: It was heavy and we had lots. We are two females. So, the owners graciously allowed us to cancel our two-night contract without any penalty. As the owners were out of town, Eileen was taking over for them, she was of great help in... More

We stayed here in 2009, when the inn was just being renovated. We were looking forward to returning in order to see what improvements had been made. We were pretty disappointed with the results. We stayed in the same room as before, I think, #6. The only change that had been made was a new wood floor, which was not... More
