Great place to drink, meet friends, dance and party. But it is not a place to rent a room from. The Gold Range is a Yellowknife Institution. A place you must visit.

I was in a band from New Orleans Called The Tim Willams Band on tour of Canada and we played There for two weeks in October 1988. The most fun anywhere on the tour and I will never forget the time there. Ques Gibbs Steel Guitar

I recently spent two weeks with my fiancee in The Gold Range Hotel and it was like a flash back to the way rockers lived back in the day (Jim Morrisson and such). My fiancee plays bass in a band that preforms there for 13 weeks, and I got to live with him and experiance the Strange Range. it was awesome....the... More

I worked in Yellowknife (at the Strange Range) for the whole month of January in 1987! The temperature would dip as low as -60 degrees F at night and "warm up" to 0 degrees F during the day! It was sooooooo cold that when a door opened to a building, you would see this "rush" of steam flowing out of... More

Gold Range is one of the oldest buidings in Yellowknife. I think it should somewhat have a memorial place in history of that city. Many will remember the days of Margaret and Ronnie Assanualt. Margaret was the former Margaret Trasher. They were the good street people during my years in the city. May the Gold Range be preserved, perhaps as some... More

Yes, I've been there too, although I live here I hardly visit the place, you really have to be drunk to go into this place to get the full effect on a Friday night. "The Range" as we call it can be fun if you're into jamming on a Saturday afternoon, but other than that, take your chances. I once... More

The Gold Range Hotel is a dump. It should be condemned. It probably will be condemned. However, the Gold Range Hotel is a long standing Northern institution and the epicenter of Yellowknife's raucous social life. In keeping with the high prices of the north beer are about five Canadian Dollars, coolers 7$.The bar is dim and stinks of beer. There... More
