Yellowknife Inn is right in the centre of the CBD (well it's as close as you get to a CBD) in Yellowknife. It's quite old, its rooms are quite old and it is predominantly a place accommodating bus loads of Japanese tourists who come to see the Northern Lights. Truck loads of them keep the housekeeping staff very busy so... More

Made a huge mistake by staying here in June. It was 27 degrees outside and about 85 degrees in my room. NO Air-Conditioning in any of the rooms! The windows open (great) BUT no screens in my room so the choice was to boil in the room or be eaten alive by mosquitos! Also, arrived on a Monday evening 9:30... More

It's central to downtown, it's clean, it has the Aurora Village (Northern Lights) tours, and it's relatively cheap. While there are newer options, the location of this place (especially when it's cold) make it attractive.

We went in March to see the northern lights and were not disappointed with the lights or the hotel. Good size room, clean, updated, friendly staff, down stairs restaurant has good food, Free coffee in lobby, no view to speak of. Wow cold outside! -40C Don't bring cash to pay for room we had to insist they take it! Big,... More

Exactly what you need when you're travelling up north. Northern service isn't what you would expect in the south, but the staff were all nice enough to me and willing to help out whenever I had questions. The restaurant/bar is pretty good, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. If possible, try to get a room away from the elevator,... More

I did some extensive research on where to stay for my Northern Lights Visit. I read endless reviews and went with the Yellowknife Inn and struck GOLD. I met Beth and Jan in the first few minutes of my arrival and was warmly greeted. I had a previous concern from a review about the Heating. It had been corrected the... More

The problems started at check-in. It was slow, only three people to check-in and two staff, waited at least 30 mins to check-in. Next issue, key I was given didn't work. Checkout was not any better. I had given a bag of frozen fish at check-in to be held in the hotel's freezer. I was never given a tag for... More

Central location :) and I had a GREAT view of the Gold Range - so when there was nothing on TV, surely there was a lot of action happening at the greatest dive bar in the NWT!? I did not find the front desk service slow, but then again, I'm a northerner. Perhaps just used to it. My room had... More

This hotel is just fine, but you shouldn't expect too much. My check-in process was slow by my standards, but they were training a new person and I was there before the check-in time. They were able to accommodate me early which was fabulous, but it's old school! The clerk had to actually go check my room to see if... More

If you enjoy being harassed by street people in the elevators and hallways, used towels waiting for you upon arrival, and sleeping with a sense of unease -- then the Yellowknife Inn is the place for you! Don't watch TV? You might want to consider it, because even if you haven't turned on your television once during your stay, you... More
