The Wetlands sheds are cosy in winter and cool in summer. We have stayed there five times over the last two years and if I could I would go every weekend and holiday. Rieta and Phillip are kind, generous friendly hosts who become like family. The sheds are clean, well maintained and have ample space. Wakkerstroom is like a little... More

Arriving late in the afternoon the complimentary sherry in the room was most welcome .Our host had called earlier in the day to check our arrival time and was on hand to check us in. Rooms were extaclty as advertised on the website .We only stayed the night but the attention to detail was noticable ,from the packed ready to... More

We had one of the bedrooms, overlooking the dam. Wakkerstroom is a gem of a place, and when we return, we will definitely stay at Wetlands. The room was extremely comfortable, with a gorgeous view, and welcoming hosts.

Sadly we couldn't book the whole of Wetlands as some rooms were already booked for the Classical music Weekend. Out of our group of 23 mountain cyclists (with a love of classical music) 11 of us stayed at Wetlands. Everyone loved it as it is beautifully decorated and surrounded by lush gardens. All 23 of us met up for meals... More

We booked two shed rooms and one bedroom. My parents and my sister stayed in the shed rooms; my husband and I in bedroom. Shed rooms are nice and big and very, very beautiful. The owner has excellent taste in furniture and we absolutely loved everything there. It was also nice of them to serve complimentary sherry wine as it... More

We have been before, and because we know the quality of the place, we will keep returning. For us it is a good stop over either to or from KZN to Kruger area. Next time, I would certainly like to stay longer as the birding in the area is world renowned. The sheds are brilliant, and very well appointed. They... More

We have stayed here previously as a couple and wanted to return with our 3 girls one day. We finally got it right recently and were allocated the family cottage. What a gem with 2 full bathrooms, large bedrooms with a view of the dam and a large living room and well-equipped kitchen. Stunning gardens, great breakfast and very accomodating... More

Wetlands is absolutely beautiful and the breakfast was amazing! My parents stayed at wetlands and I am so upset that we stayed at a really terrible and dirty Hill View country cottages down the road. If you ever travel to Wakkerstroom, do yourself a favour and stay at Wetlands.

What a gem of a place - beautiful rooms, we stayed in one of the three sheds - beautifully decorated. You can self cater, this particular shed had a well equipped kitchen with stove and oven and an outside braai. Lovely fireplaces inside for those cold winters with complimentary sherry. Check rooms as they don't all have braai facilities or... More
