Good location, walking distance to all downtown, but then so is every other hotel in town. Room 2001. Noisy, dirty, mold around shower and bath, poorly maintained, towel racks and door hook in bathroom missing, daily cleaning inconsistent with some garbage pails emptied others not. Coffee maker not emptied, towel sets not replaced completely, no face cloths day 2 no... More

I have stayed at Hometel numerous times since it's opening. The entire concept is a bit different as it is not a hotel but a row townhouse/brownstone in which you rent a room with an ensuite but share the use of a kitchen and living room with anyone else who may be renting the second and/or third room in the... Beware this is a wooden structure townhouse!!! You will hear everything during the night. People coming and going at 1:00 am, 3:00 am, 5:00 am and 7:30 am when breakfast is available. Sleep was impossible. Spent the night sweltering in humidity. We inquired why the remote for the air conditioning was missing. The response was, they hide the remotes behind... More

I think the building was intended to be townhouses; not a hotel. That can be problematic, I suppose. Several reviewers mentioned noise as a problem; that, didn't deter me because I am a sound sleeper. Yes, I could hear the clomping of people going up and down stairs and in the rooms above me; but, that was like maybe 3... More

We got a great room (clean, well appointed) at a really reasonable (off-season) price in a convenient downtown location. The staff is great and the breakfast (with the room) was one of the better continental breakfasts (it had protein in the form of boiled eggs, a selection of yoghurts and cereals along with the usual). Further, the staff didn't mind... More

This was a great place to stay location wise, but it offered nothing special. The biggest downside was the vacinity of the rooms. It is like a big house and you are renting a room. If you are looking for a hotel room, I must steer you in another direction. Echoing what others have wrote, there is no noise reduction... More

This is the best spot in the city. Easy walk to downtown and up to Signal Hill. I've been coming here for 6 years now and the place is definitely starting to get worn. Breakfast is pretty standard and parking is all right IF you can get a spot in front. Staff is a little unfriendly and acts irritated sometimes... More

After reading Kyo S's review, I hope it wasn't us in the room upstairs!!!! As others have echoed, the biggest issue with these townhouses is noise. There is no way that these buildings started out as hotel units, and therefore there is zero insulation in any of the walls or doors. One is able to hear every word of a... More

Location was good, the bed was quite firm and the room very clean. Seemed like a great setup until... the people staying upstairs moved in. Now in their defense, it had nothing to do with them purposefully being loud and inconsiderate. The problems stemmed from: 1. there is no door that separates the upstairs from the downstairs hallway, the stairway... More

Stayed one night on the second floor of one unit; bright and clean; flat-screen, fridge and coffee maker; no bath, but spacious shower. Judging from my unit, the hotel is a re-furb of townhouses. On my floor was a kitchen and dining area (not in use) and my bedroom, which would have been a den/dining area. Only interior doors with... More
