My husband and I are not picky travelers. There were very few vacancies in town and we liked the location of CQ (it looked good on the website!). When our cab driver dropped us off he wished us luck with the accommodations- perhaps we should paid more attention to his cautions. The hotel is rough around the edges but relatively... More

We stumbled upon this hotel out of desperation. I am glad we ended up there as it had more character than any tourist sites we saw. (In my opinion) There was a charming dining room, bar & billiards table. The bar maid was great...helpful & happy. The rooms are acceptable, beds are comfy enough & all is clean. Downside is... Stayed there in July. We had a three bedroom suite. The housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired, even for newfoundland.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights at the beginning of July 2011 and paid $105.00 per night plus HST. It is an 18th century old merchants marine's home turned into a hotel. If you want to stay in a place from that era then this would be okay for you. Appears to need a LOT of updating even... More

My husband, my adult son and I stayed at the Captain's Quarter for a 2 nights stay on October 6 to Ocotber 8, 2010. My husband and I had stayed there previously. Even thoug hit was not fancy, I had been fine since it is downtown. During our stay my husband was bitten by bed bugs. This was not major... More

older hotel. friendly service. on our first night we got a great room -clean and newly remodelled. Not so the second night - the floor and bed were so slanted we had to re-make the bed to change headside down towards the middle of the room so our feet would'nt be uphill. Window didn't work. Great spur of the moment... More

I ended up sleeping in my car instead. We arrived at the hotel without a reservation, before we could leave, they had a cancellation and let us take the now available room. They made sure we paid before we realized that it was a smoking room. Who smokes inside anymore? The adjoining rooms were rented to a dozen young lads... More

We have been staying at the Captains Quarters for 10 years. Wonderful place to stay. The employees are great and can not do enough for their guests. It is like going back in time where everyone respects and is courtious to one another. No it is not a 5 star hotel, but you get treated alot better than any of... More

My wife, son and my self reserved for 3 nights, but we decided to stay 2 nights instead. The beds screeched so bad that everyone else woke up if one of us went to bathroom at midnight. The room smelled smoke so bad. We could not figure out what was wrong with the lady manning both front desk and breakfast.... More
