Massage oil stains on sheets. Furniture and room appointments reclaims from a salvage box. Small outdated elevators. Top of the town restaurant closed which was at one time a feature of the hotel. Other people I spoke to on this visit talked of cobwebs from the ceilings and paint chipped and a general dirty feel. Not good value since you... more

The hotel wasn't bad, the food was okay, nothing great but during my stay I decided to explore a little so I took the service elevator into the basement. I had heard rumours about Fort Howes infamous basement . The rumours are true. In the basement the garbage dumpsters were inside the building directly underneath the kitchen, there was a... more

I was a little nervous after reading some of the previous reviews. Yes, the building was a bit rundown but the staff were pleasant and helpful. My room was spacious and clean. Not much more you really need! more

This hotel gives an overall impression of being very run down and in need of serious redecoration. The rooms had very dark furniture which had seen better days. The restaurant was offering a good priced buffet on the evening we visited. However, service was slow, especially at breakfast. We needed an early breakfast as we were part of a coach... more

We called to book a room as it was our 29th anniversary. We specifically asked if there would be sports teams and if it would be quiet. We were assured it would be quiet. I have nothing against sports teams, I am a coach myself, but when I am going for a more special evening, I would rather not be... more

I booked the Fort Howe for a sports team function and then after I booked it, I read the reviews on here and was scared to death. We arrived yesterday and we did have quite a mess with our team being scattered all over the building, with some prodding the lady at the front desk did help me put most... more

We stayed here as it was the official hotel of the Canadian National Masters Track and Field event. Wouldn't have chosen it otherwise. The lobby was nice and newly renovated, but apparently, that's where the remodeling dollars were spent. The furniture in the room was outdated, chipped, even broken drawer pulls. There was a large stain on the carpet, as... more

I stayed here on a coach tour with Archers. Of the 6 hotels we stayed in this was by far the worst. Peeling paint, mould in the shower, enamel scraped off the bath, scratched toilet seat. The bedroom wasn't too bad, but the bed linen was very thin and scratchy. The towels also small and thin. The food was either very... more

The Lobby looks like it has been renovated. But, we were on the 5th floor and the room was awful. Dirty carpet, furniture, bedspreads. The furniture has to be 20 yrs old. Bathroom partially redone but sink had big chips in it. There were wires under the bed and the sheets on the beds had holes in them. I changed... more

This hotel needs major cleaning and overhauling. As soon as you step on the blacktop with the patches to the filth in the halls and elevators and the smell!!! The rooms were half cleaned alot of stuff on the carpets and under the beds were tons of extension cords!!! Would never go back there more
